I know pred head doesn't help but I can no longer listen to the end of a sentence. All this talking and still no one has given us any details. I truly dispair!

in reply toscats

A late reply Scats after posting! Very hot bath! Chilled white! Fish & Veg! Cracking Tennis match on tv. Just found the hidden crisps! Sometimes it all happens in one go!!

Yeh. Relentless rubbish spoken by our elected Betters!!!

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to

I watched most of the tennis too - so pleased Xverev won after last night!!!!

in reply toPMRpro

What cracking game. New generation emerging now. Don't think I have seen anyone better in my lifetime than Roger Fed. Sheer class.

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to

It was - made all the better by the joker losing ;-) And almost makes up for the appalling behaviour of the audience last night.

in reply toPMRpro

Didn't see last nights game just had a look. The brayers are always there!

Lots of antics with all tennis players now!!

But "You can not be serious"!

As in Darts, watched Price and Anderson nearly come to blows in the final last night. I ate crisps too - night time munchies terrible....

in reply toTelian

Can't have crisps (especially sweet chilli, cheese & onion) or pringles in the house. Hopeless! Must be my addictive personality!

Now that could get nasty with dart throwers! Two double tops & a bulls eye to finish the contest!!

Telian profile image
Telian in reply to

It's all in the mind, if I know they're there.....

Yeah, they never shook hands and Anderson left the stage after he'd been presented and was never seen again, no interview nothing - not the first time these two have clashed - he was the best player but he let the little s...t get to him and lost his 4 leg lead!

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply toTelian

It didn't look much of a "shove" to me - I think I might have reacted the same had the guy come into my personal space like that, he looked very aggressive...

Telian profile image
Telian in reply toPMRpro

It wasn't and he always looks aggressive when getting an advantage - he plays to the audience as they boo him. 50/50 I thought as they were both invading one another's space - patience ran out with Anderson. It's not the first time Price's got over zealous - don't know if being an ex-rugby player has anything to do with it! In post match interview he was unphased by it all and even said he was happy to steal money off the professionals...me thinking he doesn't see himself as good as them so when he beats them it's euphoria... Anderson shouldn't let it get to him, he's the better player and been around a long time - he's been struggling with a bad back for months....

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to

I suspect the audience felt they might have got a 3rd set if Xverev hadn't stopped the rally because of the ball boy and then Federer's ball landed in - if, maybe, if. But I didn't think Federer fans were that unpleasant.

There are courses , see my reply to scats to take your pick.

Keep enjoying the tennis .

More lobs , less lobbying I say, it's nearly chrissymus!!!!

Blearyeyed profile image

I don't think they will be laughing too long after you have punched them.

Maybe you could take inspiration from the tennis , sit up a Christmas tree and just volley a few balls at them instead!

15/ Santa's !!!!!

Blearyeyed profile image
Blearyeyed in reply toscats

Yes you have two choices , Ba ( Hons) Political Science , or,

Preschool Nativity play !!!

Although donkeys are involved in both subjects , the preschool course can be quite entertaining ( especially if the kid in the sheep costume needs the toilet) and occasionally makes some sense.

Take PDs advice and watch the tennis with a bag of crisps instead.

in reply toBlearyeyed

Ha! You sound a voice of reason Bleary!!

I see the combined Nativity/Ba.PC, course play no longer includes the wise men! Or women for that matter!!!

Blearyeyed profile image
Blearyeyed in reply to

Oh it does , but just like the Preschool Nativity , the wise mens so called gifts of gold , frankincense and myrrh are really just empty boxes in fancy wrapping paper.

And rather than being the Saviour of All Mankind , the lady is just cradling something you could pick up from the closing down sale at Toys R' Us.

The upside is that at least you never have a shortage of teatowel for the washing up if you can manage to grab a shepherd!!

in reply toBlearyeyed

Oh! No! You've spoilt the fantasy for me! I was so looking forward to enrolling!

There's no upside there! We have so many teatowel's can't shut the bloody drawer now!

Blearyeyed profile image
Blearyeyed in reply to

Perhaps you could donate some teatowels to the poor unfortunate shepherds at No.10, perhaps if they have the right costume they might be able to find the way to that useful answer they are looking for.

in reply toBlearyeyed

Don't think a map of Wales or an Amazonian Parrot would make convincing headgear for a shepherd! Even the unfortunates residing at no 10!

Blearyeyed profile image
Blearyeyed in reply to

Boris Johnson in an Amazonian Parrot teatowel costume may be a spectacle worth watching the news for, is it a blue parrot or dead one?

Theresa May doing the Dance of the Seven Teatowels accompanied by Liam Fox on the maracas might just force a deal as we all agree to anything as long as they just stop!!!

Think I need to stop taking the medication .... Right enough fun , off to the hospital for yet more torture . Have a good day and keep watching the tennis

in reply toBlearyeyed

Just love that image! The meds are obviously working well. Good luck with the hospital, I go tomorrow.

Dear Pepperdoggie,

I put This question, to the people in my Block (of flats)…."Irrespective, of which way you actually Voted- in the Referendum. Are you One, 'A bit Peeved', with this Brexit thing....Two More than a Little P---d off, or Three 'Completely F..king Fed Up, with the whole F..king thing'". Most people 'Went For', option three- though some, went for, option two.

One, of the Old Style 'Parliamentarians'- I forget, which one now, stated that "The Public will be Surprised that this (Brexit) is taking so long. Most, of them, don't 'See It', as a difficult issue". That, may not, be 'An Exact' quote- after all, it was Eighteen Months ago!

Now, I DO appreciate, that we need a 'Deal' for obvious reasons. We are now Physically Connected, to Europe, via the Tunnel- and share a Border, in Northern Ireland. We are NOT, as Some People seem to claim, 'Leaving Europe', We won't be Off The Coast of Peru the day after Brexit! What we ARE 'doing' is Opting Out, of their, 'Elite Club' whilst trying to, make 'Everything' as Smooth as possible. Yes, some of the Member States (notice that I Didn't say 'Countries' here) will probably Object, to what WE want....My heart Bleeds, doesn't yours? I, definitely don't, envy The PM- what a Job!

Time to Persuade Parliament, to stop, 'Bickering' and Support Mrs MAY.

I feel EU are making it as difficult as possible for 2 reasons. 1. Do not want other countries to follow us. And 2. They hate to loose our money.

Who are the real EU! Too much bureaucratic stuff! Bums on Seats! Who Knows!!

Either way big shake up Val! Arse kicking all round hopefully!!

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply toValnvaughan

They aren't making it "as difficult as possible" - there are pre-set rules and regulations all have to stick to. Freedom of movement happens to be just one. No freedom of movement, you can't be part of the system. It is a bit like saying you want to continue using the gym without paying the fees and using the equipment nude...

One of the things the Brexiteers said could happen easily was a Norway arrangement. It still requires freedom of movement.

Tricky isn't it. I really want to stay in the EU. It's been so beneficial to the UK and across Europe. I just don't get why people are so adamant about leaving. We've much more influence and opportunity to make changes from within. Desperately sad!

in reply toQ-owl

True! But they are bunged up with bureaucracy!

PMRpro profile image

Really? Did you know there were more bureaucrats in London alone than the entire staff of Brussels and Strasbourg running the overall stuff for 28 countries?

Q-owl profile image
Q-owl in reply to

Just think how many more bureaucrats we're going to need if we leave. So much more paperwork, for everything we import or export for starters and we would need to duplicate all those tasks that we've delegated to the EU for years.

AndrewT

AndrewT profile image
AndrewT in reply toPMRpro

I 'Hate' to Rain On Your Parade PMRpro BUT.....Our intentions, for leaving the EU were, VERY clear indeed, after the Referendum. If you recall, when questioned Mrs May stated "Brexit, means Brexit.... This was over six months BEFORE she even gave the TWO years Notice, demanded by said EU. So we are 'getting on for' Three Years, since the vote. I'm sorry to say this, to you, you clearly feel strongly here. To use, your own 'Gym Analogy', if you said you wanted to use a Gym but rather than Paying a Direct Membership, you wanted to negotiate a Way of using their facilities- on an 'As and when basis' then.....Two and a half years Notice SHOULD be enough, yes? So sorry, to disagree, but yes the EU ARE making it unduly Difficult- a simple fact.

I would be, very interested, to hear your views on what I have said PMPpro. I'm NOT trying to 'Pick a Fight', with you- the EU are doing that for us..... I am simply expressing what, a great deal, of Brexit- and indeed Non Brexit- people are thinking. Not forgetting the Northern Irish Border can be used, at any time, to 'Scupper' the deal- as can Gibraltar. A LOT, of us, honestly feel that The whole Lot, Our Parliament, The EU Parliament, All the Institutions and All the Vested Interests need a GOOD 'Kick up the Backside!

Maybe WE, you, me and ALL other Genuinely Interested Parties can Hammer 'Something Out'. It may, very well, not be Perfect- I'll guarantee it won't be- but it might Just work. A willingness to co-operate, for the Common Good, yes, I think, we could Manage that. What say you? Throwing it Open Wider...What say Everyone? (That ain't perfect English, that ain't).

I'd be interested to hear 'Others' views please.

I'm not sure you, and others, won't be moderated out.

However, like PMRpro I have a vested interest in the outcome. It will affect me greatly, as I live in Germany, BUT a referendum is a referendum, the people have voted, this has to be respected - what is "democracy" otherwise?

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply toAndrewT

The vote in the referendum was influenced by lies in the media and exaggerations in general. The EU has been blamed for not being able to do this that and the other when the fault lay squarely with the UK government. They are things that other countries in the EU still do/don't do - because their governments chose to use the means available to them to do so. There was an article in one of the newspapers over the weekend listing the things the Sun and co have alleged over the last umpteen years that are rubbish - starting with straight bananas. No-one voted in 2016 to become poorer - and people like Jacob Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnston voted to make themselves richer as evidenced by JR-M having moved his company to Ireland so it can continue trading under the rules that advantage their business.

I don't wish to get embroiled in anything and will say little more except that both Constance and I currently face being without any medical cover on 1st April. We moved here because we could and as pensioners are covered for medical care using a version of EHIC. As of 1st April we may have to pay a considerable amount per month to continue to have medical cover as we have pre-existing conditions. I object to the goal posts being moved - no-one has told us anything at all and we and others like us are rarely mentioned. Luckily, in September I will qualify for an Italian pension - peanuts but it includes healthcare. I hope to remain here for a long time - but it cuts me off from my family. Both my daughters work in the NHS, as we did, a service that is dependent on migrants, especially from the EU, in order to function at all. They are going home, making my daughters' working environment even more unpleasant and the potential care for everyone else even more compromised.

AndrewT profile image
AndrewT in reply toPMRpro

Dear PMPpro,

First of all, let me make one thing absolutely clear, I did NOT intend to offend you and I'm VERY sorry that I have. Secondly and, maybe I am, wrong here but I thought that 'The Proposed Brexit Plan' allowed, already settled EU Citizens to remain. I was lead, to believe, this was a Cornerstone Agreement ensuring the rights of Brits Abroad AND Euros in the UK. I can absolutely assure you that, when I Voted Leave, in the Referendum, I didn't intend compromising the Rights of other EU Citizens. I'm, quite sure, that most Brits would be appalled by this thought.

What, as far as we are concerned, we Voted for was a desire to, once again, make our own 'Rules' on Domestic issues. We were becoming, increasingly Fed Up, with being told Where, and when, we could Fish, what our Farmers could grow and, seemingly endless, 'Meddling' in our Judiciary. We also, as a Trading Nation, want the right to sign Trade Deals- in our Own right- with non-EU nations. This incidentally has been a 'Sore Point' with us Brits, ever since the Then EEC, stopped us Trading with The Commonwealth- something we were, at first, told we could continue to do.

So, you see, PMPpro we are not 'out to Get' any EU Resident we just want our Independence back. I'm old enough, to remember, the First Referendum on Joining the then European Economic Community (EEC) and the assurances/ promises given. A Trading Community, somewhere to sell our goods, a meeting of 'like minded' people, a Good Deal for our Nation and so on. Our Sovereignty intact, purely a Co-operation, of nations, free to make their own rules.....Need I say more. I not, seeking to, blame Sir Ted Heath- our Prime Minister at the time- it DID seem a good deal/ opportunity. Indeed, at the time, it was. I NOT saying the EU is a bad 'thing', a Common Trading Area, Was and Is a Fantastic Idea......I guess, at the end of the day, we Brits, want our Own Government- the one We Voted For, to have the Final Say, on Our Laws. This, very definitely, DOSN'T mean we don't want Friendship, Co-operation with the EU but be Free to make our own rules. (Does this 'Sound Like' our original agreement?)

Please be assured that we ARE NOT, intending to 'Kick Out' our Neighbours.

AndrewT

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply toAndrewT

You haven't offended me - I just don't want a "we want, you want" conversation. But you see - what I am saying is that all the other countries DO have a final say on how things work in their own country. The UK had more say about things than anyone else because of all the opt-outs they negotiated. A lot of farmers voted out - and now find they can't get their fruit and veg picked by EU migrant workers and the Brits who voted to get rid of them as "They are taking our jobs" won't get up at 4am to work at 12 hour shift in all weathers so your strawberries and veggies are in the shop for you to buy. Or they suddenly realised they would lose the subsidies that made hill farming with sheep pay - so the money promised for the NHS will be spent 10 times over for each group that has lost out. And so on and so on. And young people, with all their lives before them, won't be able to travel abroad to work and get experience as easily as we were able to. My daughters are heartbroken at the opportunities removed from them and their children. As am I.

The situation at present is that either there is a deal with MrsM's plan (which doesn't appear to have legs to stand on in Parliament) or there is no deal. If there is no deal, it is perfectly possible that none of what has been agreed will apply. The UK, and all of us here in the mainland EU, will fall off a cliff with nothing in place for most countries. Malta apparently has already said nothing will change with regard to healthcare - but Italy now has a government that wants "Italians first" and they could simply say that, as persons from a third country, we have to leave just as the UK did with the Windrush generation or Trump wants to do in the USA. We have lived with this uncertainty for 2 and a half years - no wonder my PMR is still here ;-)

I'm sorry - I'll shut up.

AndrewT profile image
AndrewT in reply toPMRpro

Dear PMPpro,

No please DON'T 'Shut up', DO please tell me more! You, as a non British EU Citizen, living in this Country, have a Very Different 'Slant' on these issues. I'm, more than happy, to 'Lock Horns' with you just, so long as no Offence is caused. People, like yourselves, need to/ should be involved in our 'On Going' discussions with Europe. Am I really that 'Selfish', I didn't mean to be- I just, tried to, explain The British Perspective. As I said please DO, by all means, give the European one, in return. I agree that Freedom Of Movement might, depending on future governments' decisions, be compromised and YES we WILL All, lose out. Maybe a System Of Co-operation might work? Maybe NOT we can't even negotiate a Brexit deal yet!

Please DO share, your thoughts, further.

AndrewT

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply toAndrewT

Sorry Andrew - you have it totally the wrong way round: I am a British citizen, as is Constance, and I live in Italy while she lives in Germany. Both of us moved to the mainland EU to work with our spouses, also both British. In my husband's case it was to gain skills that then were used to benefit the UK in research and clinical posts when we moved back for some years. Then we moved here to work and then retire.

EU citizens who happen to be in the UK don't have a lot to lose except working in the UK - they have 27 other countries they can move to without hindrance and where they will be welcomed. We, on the other hand, will lose our right to the freedom of movement we voted for under Ted Heath. Our rights are being removed.
