Just come back from my new Rheumy - SUCH a pleasant man (the semi-retired Prof).

Spent five minutes on “pleasantries” then said “How can I help you?”

Said I had PMR and OA and needed a second opinion. He went on to say PMR usualy went into remision within 2 to 3 years (I told him I had had it for over 6 years)!! He answered “a few do have it 4 to 6 years” I said “even longer/ for life” - he grinned and said “you know all about this, don’t you?” I nodded and smiled.😂

“Right” he said “we’ll go straight to the OA shall we”?

After stretching and pulling he said “you’re very agile for your age” (I can still touch the floor with flat hands). But hips, knees and ankles need to be ex-rayed. That was done immediately and he told me to come back for the results on Monday, when he will suggest treatment, etc.

Very, very friendly. 👍👍

Wow Constance you told him and he responded in kind....what a good consultation in not giving you grief - are you happy with what he said about the PMR?

I'm mind-boggled that you can still touch the floor with flat hands - 'very agile for your age' is an understatement in my book. Well done you. :) :)

I was very happy at the way he just accepted he didn’t have to go any further with what can be done with PMR. So few rheumatologists listen to their patients.

Don’t think he could have added anything anyway - I get/got all the info and help I need from this forum.😀

Anyone ever mentioned hypermobility to you?

My downer thought too PMRPro. I can touch my toes with straight legs. It might not be good being like Looby Loo.

Your Rheumie sounds like a perfect darling, with respect for you as an individual, that is what we want really. Where are you again? Not the U.K.?

I think it’s time to put the iPad down. I knew that. Not myself right now but painfree!

Glad to hear it even if you feel a bit muddled right now ❤️

I have never been able to touch the floor with flat hands, arms are too short!!!

Had a mate like that Chris! Hands could never reach his pockets to buy the drinks when it was his round!!!!

Is that why women have purses and handbags, money and cards always at the ready?

in reply to

You must be joking! By the time the handbag search is over it's past "last orders" & dehydration has set in!!!!

in reply to

Ha ha that's the ploy! Might as well put your hands in you pocket, admit defeat and get the next round in 😁

Never mind!😀 My husband can’t move as well as I can, but he is much much fitter.

People are always astounded how I can move - straight back, knee on shoulder, lying down legs back over head, etc etc. Can’t walk though!😂😂

Rheumy said I had 60% movement in my right leg, 40% in my left. Hips are affected with OA. So I’m healthy at the top, but not so good below waist.

It knackers me if I have to walk longer than 20 minutes.😏

Sounds as if you should have taken up gymnastics when you were younger and everything worked.

Not what you're looking for?
