Hi. A quick question please. I go for a zelendronic acid infusion tomorrow. I live about 20 minutes drive away from the hospital. Will I be OK to drive myself?

Is this your first infusion?

This:

webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-2175...

says

"This drug may make you dizzy. Alcohol or marijuana can make you more dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Limit alcoholic beverages."

If you haven't had it before then you won't know how it affects you so I would say it might be better to arrange for someone to go with you just in case. It might not have that effect but if it does you may be stuck there for a while.

Thanks PMRpro, yes it is my first. I'll arrange a chauffer!

I do think that is best - it may be unnecessary but you never know!

Thanks to you all. Home safe and sound and feeling fine, nowhere near as bad as I feared. I'll drive next time !

I have had three now with no effects at all. I drive the 15 miles each way ( and get the bus from the park and ride) with no problem. I do the same each month for my Tocilizumab infusions

Thank you Pat. As it's my first I think I'll err on the side of caution and, much as it grieves my independant soul, I'll arrange chauffer. Then if that one goes OK I can drive myself in future.

Hi

Yes it was so unremarkable that l thought they’d forgotten to put it in the Saline Drip! But yes a Chauffeur is always recommended because you just never know.

Take Care
