Treating muscle pain post zoledronic acid infusion

I had my first zoledronic acid infusion just over 24 hours ago. I was recommended to take some paracetamol before bed, which I did. I had some migraine associated visual disturbances just before I turned my light out, but slept through OK. This morning I developed a headache, so took more paracetamol, which did the trick. However, through the day I have developed muscle pain in my right thigh, which is making walking somewhat difficult. I shall continue to dose with the paracetamol, but wondered if anyone had any suggestions for anything else I could do. Hot water bottle? Movelat? I’m not in a lot of pain, more frustrated! I had kept my diary free, though, so I’ve nowhere I need to be in the next few days, and OH is here to look after me.

Hmm, which bit of the leg is it? What sort of pain?

It’s the upper front of my thigh, and I guess it’s like it’s developed a weakness, in that I can’t stand up straight on that leg, and if I’m sat or lying down I can’t lift the leg without using my hands to help. I can manage the stairs, but I’m holding tight to the stair rail!

If it doesn't settle, I would call 111 and ask advice.

With the infusion just before and the suddenness of its development and the weakness I’d want some medical advice. Might just be the way you were sitting but even if it was the amount of disability needs to be reviewed I think. Nothing to be lost by calling 111.

HI! I'm experiencing this, too. I apply heat and give a gentle massage. Usually I have overdone things physically eg unwisely attempted to hoover!

I have this issue but its from my recent back problems. Seems severe but may be hopefully a transient reaction to the infusion. You should definitely get it checked. Do let us know how you get on.

hi there,

I had a similar response to the zeledronic acid. From day 2-4 then the leg pain and also the flu like discomfort dissipated.

I was reluctant to receive it due to possible, but rare side effects. But no, all is well. Hope you be well soon.
