Morning all. I am currently on 9mg pred and was doing okayish. Last night, went to bed with a feeling like the top of my head was burning. Couldn’t sleep so took paracetamol about 12.30am. Woke up with a slight stiff neck. Head feels a little better. Any ideas?

Burning feeling in scalp
Hi Sue!
It might be a virus. I have had a GCA mocking chest infection with pressure in my eyes and head, neck and chest pain. It’s always our first thought, isn’t it?
Mine has gone this morning and I haven’t wasted a day in ER or spoiled a good taper. See what painkillers do. If every instinct is on high alert, involve the doctors. Hope it’s all good!
Thanks Jane. I have been having problems with slight temple tenderness and sometimes sore scalp since the beginning of the year. Gets worse the more I taper. Seeing my consultant in November. If I see one more locum I am going to get referred to Southend hospital.
Glad you are feeling a lot better. This illness does cause confusion doesn’t it!!
When I hear stories such as yours Sue, it makes me believe that there isn’t a hard line drawn between PMR and GCA. Stop tapering and don’t hesitate to increase whilst you are between medical advice. Your body is trying to tell you something. Wishing you the best, as ever!
