Does anyone have a suggestion to combat that uncomfortable 'empty/nervous' feeling in stomach??

Hollow/nervous sensation in stomach
Hello! It’s horrible, isn’t it? I’m a worrier, at the best of times, so find it’s compounded by the pred., though Rheumatology keep telling me I’m not on a high enough dose for it to be that. Mind, Rheumatology tell me a lot of things ....
Sometimes, I find having a small snack and doing some deep breathing can help. Also, distraction of whatever sort you’re able to do.
Hope it eases for you.
Deep breaths. I always eat when my stomach feels empty!
It is horrible isn’t it? You do get used to it though and it gets less. I know it’s Pred and nothing else. Eating a little helps me and occupying myself with something absorbing, even a movie or a book or a walk. I also take vit B 12 and imagine that it steadies my nerves. 🌼
Eating mostly or Gaviscon at night.....
Drinking water, eating a lot of veg snacks (not all raw because it became too much for my gut) and Gaviscon at night.
I am naughty and find chocolate very soothing ,if not some savoury biscuits and butter.lf they are not helping an idigestion tablet.
I have it all the time! I It's kind of like the excited feeling I had as a kid on Christmas Eve! But it's lasting all year!!! I wake up with it in the night too!! But compared to the PMR pains it's nothing........and my pain is completely controlled with the pred, at the moment.....although I did have a little flare a few months ago I am now back down to 6mg. I don't notice it all the time especially when I'm doing something interesting - I don't find eating anything works at all. Not much help to you - but by the responses on here we're not alone!
Greetings Plonkerme
I know this strange 'gut' feeling - have had it on and off throughout my PMR / Pred Journey. Yep, it can be quite uncomfortable.
Only a thought, but it might be caused by the PMR inflammation (assuming this is your Dx?) combined with the side effects of the Preds. From what I've learned here, for some of Us Lot the Preds can irritate the lining of the stomach and create a slightly 'jittery / nauseous feeling' (apart from all the other side effects...!).
As Jane and others suggest, maybe experiment with diet / timing of eating in combination with the daily Pred dose? For some here, it seems that taking enteric coated (slow release) Pred and / or eating differently / at different times can alleviate some of the symptoms. As with many things PMR / Preds, it seems to be a case of trial and error.
Hope this helps, possibly the forum Aunties will be along with their opinions too?

This particular auntie has always has a cast iron stomach!!!
Trust you. Must be down to either genetics or the Italian diet of, er, um, healthy Italian stuff?
The Mediterranean diet does have a reputation for being healthful...
That's it then. It's a Domino's takeaway Mega 24 inch Pizza & Chips for me tonight. Yummm.. (and Tedski too) !!!!
Yeah - except our pizzas are about a tenth of the thickness of the stuff Dominos creates and wouldn't be served with chips...
Sorry, too complicated to order an authentic Italian one - already ordered here and on the way (via Drone delivery - a popular option here if you can dodge the downdraught). As a concession to the Italian Way, I spose I could slice it into 1/10ths laterally? But it would take me all night and be a betrayal of the UK's favourite gastronomic experience. And.. Tedski would be pretty pi**ed off about waiting around for his evening Nosh-up.
I go for my cream cakes failing that , any thing I can get my hands on 😂😂mm
Often at nite, a spoonful of yogurt soothes that empty gut feeling. Also the aforementioned gaviscon is always an option.
