Hello, do you mean it happens every day and goes after a Pred dose or was it after the first dose after diagnosis and hasn’t been back since?
It was present before the first dose for several weeks and then went away with 24-48 hours of starting prednisone.
I had scalp when brushing hair all over on and off but then it was there all the time, getting worse over the final day or two. Couldn’t lie on pillow at all in the end and over a few months I kept blaming pillows for not being quite right. Went within 2 hours of first dose Pred. Occasional slight return when withdrawing, before hair shedding, but nowhere near as bad.

I had a sore scalp that was sort of around the crown - I had also had jaw claudication at about the same time. It does happen apparently, GCA starts and burns out very quickly but it is rare.
I’ve had episodes with the scalp soreness and hair loss at the higher doses, then went away, now on 7.5 and it’s back again. I’ve been using the 5 week plan that I saw on this site , but decided to stay on the 7.5 mg an extra two weeks Not sure if that’s the right thing to do , I just want to try and avoid a flare. I don’t have much contact with pcp , I do have appointment with his assistant (PA). and my first question for him will be “how much do you know about PMR/GCA. I do think he’s a smart young man. I also think that the more information I have it might help me deal with it! maryanne 🙁🙄 hugs to all
