A bad week.

So this week I experienced swelling in my right foot and toe. I went to hospital with it. To be told they suspect it's psoriasis arthritis in my toe/foot. Another devastating blow to me. I can hardly weight bare on my foot. In just seem to be going from worse to worse.

Anyone any experience of this condition. Is it related. My GP has referred me to consultant for an opinion so I'm waiting an appointment. The heels have had to go and I'm in trainers. Not really my thing. Feel like "me" is being eroded away by my health right now.

I have the energy of a flea and I miss my get up and go.

😔. Your health is certainly your wealth and I wish I could be weathly again.

Is your diagnosis PMR at present? If so - it is possible you are one of the about 1 in 6 who gets a different diagnosis at some point. Although not strictly related, PMR and psoriatic arthritis can present almost identically - and in anyone with a history of psoriasis PsA should be considered.

If it is there are other drugs that will do a much better job of managing it - including a choice of biologics. So it isn't the end of the world - and you may get off pred sooner than you thought.

Yeah I was diagnosed with pmr a year ago. I'm due to see my rheumatologist in October so will talk to him about diagnosis Etc....

This week's been a better 1 thankfully. Just pain in the ball of my foot now and swellings gone down. But I then tool a burst bakers cyst (whatever that is) in my knee on other leg so it swoll up so bad I had to take a week of work. I don't know if it's related or not. Just coincidence maybe but seems it's been a series of events and they cud be linked.

Thanks for ur reply sorry for my delay I don't get to come on here often.

Was it a rheumatologist who thought you had psoriatic arthritis? Is your toe swelling sausage-like? Didn't you have a broken toe--could that account for the swelling? I ask because there are specific traits to PsA. The diagnosis was considered in my case because I had an appropriate genetic marker and some patches of psoriasis, but it was rejected for a different condition. There is a lot of overlapping in autoimmune conditions, but also some concrete symptoms as well. I read your earliest post where it was suggested you ask for some clarity from a rheumatologist. It seems important at this stage.

Sorry I havent been on for a few weeks just seding your reply now. Yes I had a broken toe but this inflammation was the 1 beside it. It settled now. And I am going to see my rheumatologist in October so will discuss all then

It was so painful but thankfully pain has resided a bit now and I've had a better week.

I'm sure you are suffering a lot and I feel for you. I realize I sounded a bit judgemental, though I just wanted to speak from experience. It is often hard to have a lot of diagnostic labels thrown at you without any helpful treatment. Best wishes for some resolution. JoA
