Don't enjoy this but who wants "Weils Disease" as well? One off sachets supposed to do the job in one hit! They are going & a lot more humane than other solutions! Can't beat a Jack Russell though!

We have quite a problem with rats cos we're next to a farm. They do like the compost heap even with no meat in it. We have large versions of a mouse trap and use bait boxes from our local agriculture supplier. Last spring 3 babies came into the house and that really motivated us! One of sleepless nights was especially eventful. I've got that clematis too, it's been a picture this year.

Hello scats.Rats breed so fast! It really is a war unless you live above ground level. But even then they can climb!! Never underestimate them they are part of our GNA! Flowering much earlier good old Jackmanii. ATB

I think our 2 weeks in Cornwall has resulted in our poor garden suffering!! I can see your persicaria looks well! Our red dragon one has bolted, flopped and the leaves look sick. Never mind it will all return next year. When we left for our hols everything looked lush and green, I think we take rain for granted.

No rats , but we did catch a mouse in our garage!! Lol😂😂😂😂😂

Tough plants persicaria. Our red dragon has suffered too. Took some cuttings in the Autumn & they are doing fine in the shade. Other than the grasses, angels fishing rod & perennial sunflowers most plants have burnt themselves out now. Big cracks opening up in the clay. Hope you enjoyed the sunshine & oggies.

You've still got the rats! we've had them once since the dogs died and when we had them (rats not dogs) they took up residence under the decking so after monitoring their movements, seeing them eat the poison, which makes them thirsty, I left the hose running into their 'den' and hopefully drowned them out - one way or another it worked as haven't seen any since. Our recent claim to fame was a mouse ran out of the lawn mower in the garage. The clematis is lovely, mine's done well this year must be it's year!

We have field mice in the rockery, don't mind them! Ratty nests under the pond or next doors shed. They have runs that follow under the fence gravel boards. The next generation seems to follow the same routes. Some now getting resistant to Warfarin it seems! ( I did too!!) Your mouse was living dangerously! Adrenalin machine freak!

Yes Pepperdoggie - jack Russells are the best ratters. Though I grew up on a farm and my sister had two cairn terriers. So slow and sedate they were, being a bit elderly - until they saw a rat!. galvanised lightning! A quick pounce, a deadly shaking - and on to the next one. Ratting with dogs was quite a sport in the countryside when I was young. If you put "Ratting" into YouTube, you will find that it still is.

So sharp ours was. Better than all the chemical stuff arthur. As you say over in seconds. ATB
