Calm down dear........😊
Way to go England! 🍾🍺
That was quite a match even for the uninitiated! 🏆
Crashed with unbelief myself! Not too much simulation in this game! Brilliant! Cold bath for me now!
and them!!
Great,my husband was a football fan,l have placed an England flag on his grave.lt would be wonderful if they win,but you never can tell with football.
Aww, I'm sorry you don't have your husband but I'm sure he'll be waving them on along with all the rest he's with....my dad included, he didn't follow a football team as such but he always watched England. It truly would be a wonderful win but let's not get ahead of ourselves.....the game today was so different to the Columbian match, didn't expect that at all - only one yellow card today - I hate dirty tactics. If we get through to the final it will be next Sunday 15th, my hubby has just received a hospital appt for guess when - the 15th!! ATB
That's a tricky one! My guess is the hospital will be very quiet....IF!!! We get through!
It'll be even quieter, I'm changing it, wrong time 1pm - it's his lunch/nap time (diabetic) and as it's a review appt it can wait another week. It is a big IF but possible...!?!
Definitely! Would have preferred Russia myself. Good game that was last night. Been a cracking World Cup really.
Me too, but it is what it is and yes all been very enjoyable, we're going to be bored to death afterwards, yesterday I watched the footy, tennis and darts! in between my chores...
I must be unusual (no comments, please)😂. I have never watched a football match and, thank goodness, my husband isn’t interested either.
Must confess, although I've been alone in the house all day, I did have the England match on the tv, just in the background, you know, so I knew they were winning! My son was at a pub with other fans, they are currently watching Russia/Croatia, and hubby, poor fellow, is at work.
I take it your poor hubby is a fan?
I don't know anyone that's never watched a match but know a few you who are not interested - each to their own I say. My friend made me smile, she hates football and when I told her England had won she said I know I watched it! really! she had turned the tv over to watch her favourite soap and the footie hadn't finished, they were taking penalties so she watched it save missing the start of her soap!
Hi Telian,l have to admit l am not usually a football fan but like your friend l started watching it because there did not seem to be anything much else on the T/v.also l think that Russia has put on a good show really which caught my interest more this time,My husband would be so surprised that l am actually watching football,he used to watch it all the time on Sky TV,l have to admit it put me right off it! Needless to say if he was still here l would be only to pleased for him to carry on being such a fanatic. I did not need to watch the match yesterday as there was loud cheers coming from various neighbours houses, plus cars sounding their horns.lt does help to raise the mood throughout the country ,it will go right down if they lose now, lovely though if they do really manage to win,On a much more serious note.l am sure we are all praying very hard today for the boys, their coach and all the very brave divers in Thailand, they have rescued two boys when l last heard the news, please God they can all come out safely.
Hi Grants, just read they've rescued 4 boys now - the rescuers took an opportunity while water levels were at a low, wasn't expected to happen so soon - they're hoping to start again tomorrow - do hope so...
You know, with apparently 90 divers from Thailand and countries around the world I'm wondering why they have to wait overnight. There's no light underground anyway, why can't they keep going? There was something in the news about refilling the oxygen tanks. I reiterate, with 90 divers there, why aren't there masses of oxygen tanks and other equipment at the ready, along with a crew ready to go in and fetch the next group after each group is safely out? There is currently a break which is expected to last at least 10 hours. It takes hours for each group to traverse the passage. Time is not on their side.
I don't think equipment is the problem as the number of divers allows constant shift work and it's my understanding there is plenty of oxygen in tanks. The problem is they are having to train the boys how to use diving equipment. As with anything some boys will be easier to train than others regardless of fitness levels. The amount of natural oxygen is depleted more quickly if there are lots of people in the area using it up, and that is needed for communication purposes when training the boys and seems to be where the waiting game comes in. The whole task is far more delicate than we realise. It's not clear how easy it was to bring the 4 boys out today/yesterday. They will resume again tomorrow, once the oxygen levels are satisfactory again.
Have you seen the diagrams of the journey they have to take to get out? it is so narrow in places they have to remove the oxygen tanks to get through, and in these areas if the water level rises just a little they will not survive. It takes time to train a competent diver and this is no normal situation that can afford risk.Being positive and the boys are trained and through the trickiest parts, there is a steep incline in the latter stages that the authorities feel they might not be strong enough to climb, but by then they should be out of the danger zone regarding water levels, we all hope.
They are 2 1/2 miles underground! it's a long way when you are fully fit. I suppose there will be questions asked when it is all over but for now getting them all safely out is the priority. The diver that lost his life was an experienced retired Navel diver, so what happened there they don't yet know and I suppose if it happened to a trained person it makes the rescue more risky where the boys are concerned.
In Korea the news was saying he'd miscalculated how much air he needed - working on the lower amount he used while highly trained and that he was now that bit less fit and so required more.
Oh dear, that just drives it home what the rescuers have to contend with in calculating the boys needs, worse case scenario....
I think they won't have the physical demand factor - they will be brought out with the divers doing the work. The gaps are to allow both restocking AND the divers doing the rescue to rest - they seem to have an elite group accompanying the boys.
I still want to know what on earth possessed anyone to think it was a good place to take what are mere children...
That's true, so hopefully they won't get it wrong - the divers are doing all the work carrying the equipment for themselves and 'their boy' with just a line to 'feed' him - it is amazing what they are doing but I've asked the same as you why are they there in the first place?
They've got another 4 out today, the rest tomorrow....
Are they using the same successful rescue teams each time? I guess that would make sense in the circumstances. I was thinking about what you said about replenishing oxygen supply, but now that the numbers are much reduced wouldn't that mean less oxygen is being used in the cave now? And maybe it's only because the rescue teams need to recover they are now waiting a third day. I hope they get the coach out tomorrow too. I can't imagine what he's going through, just a young man himself. Did the medics who were there at the beginning of the rescue already exit?
Hi Grants148
It can happen like that, nothing you've planned but it happens, I too wanted Russia to go through but it wasn't to be so we'll move one. You are right too much of a thing can put you off totally, it's strange how I've taken such an interest, more so since I retired and now my husband is asking me if he can watch something else! talk about an about turn. I remind him he taught me, he just looks...I never watched a match until I met hubby and even then i wasn't interested, then with 3 boys all playing for their school and District side I got involved in fund raising and chauffeuring them and their friends to matches. I'm more interested because I fully understand the game now and also know a lot of the players so it strikes an interest for me that way. I can't watch if I don't understand what's going on.
I agree with you re the awful circumstances in Thailand, how tragic that one of the volunteer rescuers delivered oxygen to the boys then ran out on his way out and couldn't be revived. I truly hope they are all rescued very soon and make a complete recovery.
Hi Telian,l have two sons, grown up now,and five grandsons,my husband managed youth teams for years,so my life was very much football, even washing the whole team kit when my husbands team were playing,l eventually told him to take it down to the launderet, lt was a good thing for the boys to play for local teams,it stopped them hanging around the streets with nothing to do.My grandsons are doing the same, although one of them loves playing golf which takes priority with him. Those young boys in Thailand are obviously very fit, just as well,to cope with being underground for so long they must be mentally strong too. I cannot understand the coach taking them in there with rain very likely at this time of year ,and one brave diver has lost his life. They have rescued eight now, hope and pray that the others will be brought out safely tomorrow,so amazing how they are doing this.
That's lovely youth football and you certainly got involved too, good move sending him to the launderette!
Hopefully those boys will all be out safely tomorrow and yes that is the question everyone is asking why were they taken down this 2 1/2 mile area in the rainy season, suppose we'll hear about that later.

My goodness me, an initiation test eh!. Thanks for that.
Yes Telian, there will certainly be a lot to question about this afterwards, just hope they all survive, and that after this more care will be taken in the future.
They're all out safely now, thank god, but have you seen why they were down there? See Heron's reply above...
