How can it be

Down to 3 mg this week feeling not too bad at all in fact pleased with myself as I am able to help my daughter who has developed a disease which means she is dizzy and finds it difficult walking without holding on, no driving and must not work. Then out of the blue my daughter in law phones my son has perforated bowel, they have removed his colon and found cancer has touched his liver. I can’t. Believe it is all happening as six years ago my eldest son (he was 44). He died suddenly with heart failure . How many of my precious children does God want when he could have my life in exchange. They are starting chemo on him next week. I don’t know a lot about the illness but I suppose miracles do happen. Sorry just had to tell someone my devastating news.

Thank you

I am so very sorry. There are no words to ease your pain, grief and confusion. There is nothing I can say to make you feel better or to give you the assurance you desire. All I can do is remind you... "So far you've survived 100% of your worst days. You're doing great!"

You will get though this.. all of this. Breath. Clear your mind. Try to relax.

If you need to vent or a shoulder... we are all here.

I can't even imagine the pain you must be going through, and to have to remain strong through all of it, to be there for your children.

Cancer is no longer a death sentence, More and more people are living many years with stage 4 cancer. Watching a loved one go through chemo is also so difficult.

Maybe you should up your dose of Prednisone for a while just to void a flare.

Wishing you all the best..

Gaijin is right , cancer is no longer a death sentence, as I well know. I now have stage 4 medistatic breast cancer in lung , they found it incidentally became of a blood clot I developed in my neck. They have so many new drug therapies out there today, much different then it use to be. I’m on my third round and not truly sick like the old days of chemotherapy. Yes, it’s very scary but take a deep breath n be there for your children. It’s so hard along with the PMR. My thoughts n prayers are with you Perky and remember one step at a time. Keep us posted when you have the time energy 😍😢

Hello

I am just so sad to read this, why does everything happen at once? Firstly you must maintain your health & would suggest remaining on the dose you are on, if not increasing it depending on how you feel.

There are some very good treatments available & although Chemo can be hard there is much improvement in the treating of the side effects.

I pray you will find the strength to shoulder all this & that you keep well, remember this is not the time to reduce your Pred at all.

Thinking of You

Everyone is so kind. Thank you...unfortunately my son and his wife live in Truro and I am I Newcastle he is not one that likes a fuss so me turning up would not be the answer. My daughter lives in Newcastle so if needs be we could fly down to Newquay but at the moment she couldn’t travel with her labrinthitus. No easy answer is there but am now trying to look on the bright side as you say things are moving forward in the world of medication and he was a fit man, was a fire officer until he retired last year he is now58. Gosh that makes me feel old !

Sometimes life throws so much at us that we are left like a bewildered wreck. This latest news about your son must be devastating. Your children are very fortunate to have you as a mother. I do believe in miracles and I pray that one happens for your family.

Well done with your taper! Don’t forget to take care of yourself in all this and to be mindful of the impact stress has on your own illness.

God bless you now and always. Let us know what happens with you and your children. 🌸🌸
