What should I ask dr

Hello everyone I just wanted some feedback as to what to ask the neurologist on this Wednesday I have an appointment. I know I have to ask what is causing these headaches and what they are planning to do. What else should I ask. Any feedback would help me. Thanks in advance ❤️😊🤗😉❤️❤️❤️

Hey Hali!

In a sense that job is done for you, hopefully, in the referral letter. I would be ready with a bullet point list of my main symptoms and a potted history of what’s happened to you so far. Good luck with this appointment and blessings for a good outcome. X

Hi Hali

SJ has said exactly as I was going to, the conversation will start by you being asked how you are, regardless they have the referral, and it will go on from there. Make sure you have all your symptoms written down first followed by any questions you have, otherwise you will forget until you get outside! You'll find the consultation should evolve naturally into a two way conversation, they will rely on you telling them everything that's happened including who you've seen so far and for what, no matter how insignificant to you, they will then 'pick the bits' out.

I hope you have a good consultation and we shall wait to hear back from you as things progress. Good luck!

Good Luck Hali12 🍀

Bullet Points & Dates are important, how you felt at that time ie changes of Meds etc

Good Wishes

Well good luck, it’s been a long time coming. Other than what’s already been said, I have found it useful when they say what it is or isn’t, is to ask them what has led them to think that.

I'd want to make sure I had the answers to the following:

Have the test results conclusively identified an official diagnoses?

Are all doctors involved in my treatment, in agreement with the diagnoses?

Are there different treatment plan(s) option?

What are the risks associated with different treatment(s)?

What is the prognosis?

Take someone with you to write notes of the answers is my absolute key as I find my brain sparks off on so many different tangets that I miss half of the talk. Next best thing is writing questions down and writing in the answers, slower but good for recall

Essential I'd say..even if you're having a 'good' day and feel as if you've understood it all you CANNOT recall much afterwards

Also what I meant to put in my earlier reply was don't expect a quick answer as he/she may require further tests of their own, not sure did you have the lumbar puncture? Any way think you've got some good tips and wishing you all the best Hali!
