It's my second time at 6mg, but this time I'm using DSNS and going to try DL's simple taper, with the option to switch back if needed or even a holiday for a week or two.
I don't. I'm on DSNS now and will be going to the simple taper when I start my next taper. If it goes awry, I'll find a spot in DSNS and start from there again.
I like the Sunday start, well really it's a Monday start as I take coated pred in the evening. So far it's worked for me, I haven't had a bad start yet, maybe bad days during, but that's normal as we adjust. As you say, it's what works for us.
I am also following DL’s pattern of reduction now and I am finally at 6 too after failure at the last 2 attempts using my Rheumy’s pattern. He said last week if it works, continue. So I will be following your progress over the next few months and hopefully will be travelling on the same road. I am taking Methetraxite as I am apparently “steroid resistant” so I am hoping to get to Club Zero by the end of the year. My next Rheumy appointment is in November, my 3 year anniversary of being struck by PMR.
I was diagnosed in January 2016 and my Rheumy suggested this site at my first visit. I have been following everyone’s progress since then but this is my first entry as I seem to have finally found someone at the same place in our journey through the quagmire of PMR. I have been in some very dark places in the last couple of years and would not have managed without the constant help, advice, tears and laughter that all of you have given me by writings on this forum. A huge thank you to you all.
Glad it’s working at the moment, but please don’t get too fixated on finishing by Christmas. If you have that in mind all the time you are putting yourself under stress, just go along day by day. A cliche I know, but true! Unfortunately it’s not you or your Rheumy that decides how long your PMR will last, it’s the PMR itself!
Thank you DL for that timely reminder. It is so difficult to understand that this PMR has a mind of it’s own and we just have to take that daily mantra, one day at a time, seriously. I wouldn’t have managed to get to this point without your wise comments for us all. A sincere and heartfelt thank you.
One thing I have learnt is to ignore any dates, you never know what's going to happen. I was at 6mg in Dec 2017 and a flare put me back to 9mg. Since then I've been on the DSNS taper with a couple of short holidays.
We are all in much the same place, all heading to the lowest dose we can manage, club zero would be great, but it it's not for me, so be it.
The aunties do give some great advice and the rest of us do talk about our experiances.
Feel free to comment on any of my posts, they are meant to engage with other members even if it is an a funny way. We can feel down at times and a post on here can certainly build you up again.
