I have the moon face but now developed a swelling going from my left ear lobe to my jaw feels like gristle to me does not move and does not hurt, but with my face being so round I don't need any thing else !! I am waiting for a scan appointment, does anyone know that if and when I get down to single figures on the predisinone does the MOON FACE also go? Anyone have any idea please

Yes, Jamie, the moon face and swelling will resolve as you get to single figures, and possibly before if you are lucky. The swelling more on the left hand side could just mean that it is that side of your face that is mostly affected by the temporal artery on that side. However, if it doesn't resolve or gets any larger do get it checked out at the surgery or by ringing your rheumy's nurse helpline if he has one. At 40mg, it wasn't just my jawline that was swollen, even my eyes seemed to be reduced to little slits. Didn't recognise myself in the mirror, so stopped looking!

The moon face will go down but if like me, you’ve gained weight, you may have to take care of that too. I sometimes think my face looks puffier on one side than the other and I sometimes think it goes down a bit. I would go to your GP though, I don’t like the sound of the gristley feel to it. You are clearly very pretty ( photo) this is a rotten old business. May it pass quickly.

Yes. Mine is on the way down at 9mg. Since prefhe right side of my face has always looked and felt much fuller. It is my preferred leaning on my hand side when I am sitting or laying. Hope it resolves soon.

Thank you for the lovely compliment! That was before these two illnesses hit me, but I am feeling more positive this last few months mind you I've just come away from a dreadful relationship that made me realise what I've heard many times on the forum about stress is exactly true, it made me so ill, who would have thought that it could cause one so much physical pain, but hey I'm so much more accepting yet fighting and thinking of holidays .

Good for you for getting out of such a stressful thing. Truly stress can do a number on us , the mind-body connection is surely real.

I’m been on 40 mg for 3 months and have a lopsided moon face too. Looking forward to it going away as I taper down.

Yes that will do it. Glad you are emerging into the sunlight again!

When it goes tends to depend more on the person than the dose - and sometimes cutting carbs to lose pred-weight will help it go sooner/faster.
