Apologies as "Pred Head" has made me forget who it was exactly, that suggested I buy a "shopping trolley," and stop lugging those crazy, heavy grocery bags all over town! ...but THANK YOU!!!!
I remember at the time thinking to myself, "OMG… Never, never in a million years, will I use one of those!” Well that was my EGO talking and you know what? Not long after that, her arms and back got too tired and sore to carry those bags and we broke down an bought a shopping trolley!
Yes, okay, albeit... it is a totally cool and utterly fabulous shopping trolley, but a shopping trolley none-the-less! I found this Spanish manufacturer who designs and makes cool and trendy trolleys; I went with the classic "Black and White," but the choices were limitless.
Now, I look forward to my walk to Waitrose and that walk back... is a piece of cake!
I felt the exact same as you, I'm sure lots of us did! But I have like picked a colourful one and it's been a life saver but I also got a roller(not the car) and that was a real effort to give in! But I would not be without it as well now, it's given me the ability to go into town gets me walking and meeting my neighbours, one day I'll be able to walk unaided but at present I'm happy with my AIDS, I am giving driving a rest at present due to pain travelling around my body, so I got the bus, met other people on the bus so I found that pleasant, although the roller flew down one end of the bus brakes not working, but no one hurt only one red face, mine!
Okay... the thought of the brakes on the bus not working and your "roller" flying down the centre of the bus... made me laugh out loud! Ad even though I have NO IDEA what you look like.. I could see you standing there, with a totally shocked look on your bright red face!

Have thought many times of getting one, but am a bit worried about the ‘back twist’ from pulling, as lumber spine discs are shot. I can’t do sweeping or similar activities without aggravating it. What do you think? Or is it pushable?
Also a problem with a dozen steps to my front door, but that’s a problem any day, trolley or not!

They may make ones where the design is to "push," I don't know. I have pulled it upstairs (one flight) and because it is good quality it goes really, smoothly...
Top of mind actually because my friends and I as we advance into decrepitude were recently discussing what we see when we see people with what we call walkers and you call rollators. How they are bent over and it must exacerbate back problems.
I can only assume they have been measured incorrectly, or not at all. I worked with Occupational Therapists, and most aids (toilet seats, perching stools etc) need to be individualised for height, and sometimes weight.
Oddly, occupational therapy isn't covered by our insurance. I suppose they'd get the proper care if they bought from a drugstore, but not if they just got a hand me down or bought one without asking for assistance. Until this thread I had no idea these things were adjustable. Although you'd think I'd have thought of it, considering the care taken when I needed crutches a few years ago.
Not in Nova Scotia where we access things like physio, eye care, dentistry, through our own insurance, not the public plan. Occupational therapy is not covered by our personal insurance.
Yes its something I have noticed. I use a crutch now having used a stick even in my late 30s. When I see people with the crutch set too high or low I have to stop myself from showing them how to put it right. Presume they feel comfy. In Sheffield on some streets I have to adjust length because of the side slopes.
I was given my rollator and it seems to be at the top height level but I do find it to low for me I try walk head up as makes my back ache, I will be going to look at some more to see if they do them for taller people, although I'm not tall at 5.4, but the lady who no longer needs this is actually taller than me! So something to look into .
My sister has Ra, she bought a four wheeled shopping trolley, it's called the Rolls Royce....it is upright so all wheels move independently, very light, has a cold storage section......pushed in front....looks wonderful....many people remark on how nice it is....but it wasn`t cheap, just under a hundred pounds....she`s says it`s the best money she ever spent.....looks trendy too!....(From Scotts of Stow)......(she`s 5 foot)
My sister loves it, so trendy too.....she's much younger than me. She wouldn't have been able to pull a trolley with her RA, this is perfect....it's amazing how much she can get in it too☺
Everyone that lives in the center of Madrid uses a shopping trolley. I've had to change mine that was a pull kind to one that's like a baby stroller(Maclaren in British) .... no effort at all to push.
Love it! When you first posted the site, I looked at all of the fabric options and thought 'How is she ever going to decide? So many neat patterns!' Love it! I'd be lost without mine. And mine is an ugly dog compared to yours.
Well done Miamici,l too have a shopping trolley, l found it at a Country Living exhibition a few years ago and it is a rather pretty one with a useful cool bag inside.lt is a bit flowery to take out during the winter but we need something bright and cheerful on dull winter days. I would not recommend filling your trolley with too many really heavy things as l find that does not help the PMR,it can still put pressure on arms,back and legs,and l also find pushing it along is less of a strain.l shall not mention all my many rides on crowded buses,it does not go well with push chairs or wheelchairs ,it is very difficult to find room for the trolley and l find it quite exhausting trying to hang on to it with all the people trying not to trip over it. I wish you much happier shopping trips with your very smart trolley xx
Good tip, however, no bus for me if it's shopping day! I walk 0.4 miles to Waitrose, or I rent a City Car Club car and drive to the big Waitrose or Sainsbury... either way no fighting with push chairs or wheelchairs! Or trolleys, flying down the centre isle leaving me standing red faced, at the front of the bus!!!!! : )
I do like getting out and my Waitrose is a small one... I don't do Mega Stores or Malls though!

I would order everything but fruit and veg online. O am very picky. I like under ripe or hard fruits with no bruising...usually caused by stag who throw Apple's into the display. My dog fussy about her pears too..but less so lol..
I think we should all get one,it would be so much easier than carrying bags all the time! The trend would soon catch on.It would be unfashionable not to have one,lets do it!!

If i get one i will be rocking the skull and crossbones design..i am sure there's one out there. I am quite short but when I threw a suitcase out I dismantled the handle in case I need to extend a trolley handle. While I have a car it's ok but I can't use public transport and would be dragging it uphill and down Dale.

I suggest we also design coordinating accessories - hats, tshirts, sweatshirts with some reflective trim....a whole coordinating panoply to make us stylish as well as visible in the rain and the dark.
We need a slogan. Maybe something like "We're rollin' slow but we still rock!"
I too am a bag lady! Two with wheels and one like yours in green plus a suitcase - all for work. The hub carries the heavy stuff when shopping. He is v understanding, however I did feel the need to copy him in on the spoons picture today.....
Have you seen a Sabichi bag with two wheels? I have had one for a couple of years. It is a large very strong bag and has two pockets in the front, great for shopping.
Unfortunately I used it to transport my bowls/bag (when I was able to bowl a little) and broke the wheels. I now keep it in my boot and have a small trolley, from local charity shop, do a big Sainsbury`s shop once a week, fill several plastic bags and put them all in the Sabichi on my trolley. The walk from car to front door is quite a way.
In regards to itoning boards not being high enough I bought a Brabantia Titan and it’s certainly adjust to a height suitable for me and I’m 6’3”. It actually can go higher than I need. The other great think is it has a heat resistant pad and no awkward areas that the cable can catch in.
YES! That's what I bought!!! I found it on Amazon. Mine has a like a metal tray at the end that you can set the hot iron down on... and it's extra wide!
Congratulations. I did talk to you about them but not sure if I was the first. You have exactly the same one as me! I love it to bits and you can get soooo much in it. Do you put your shopping directly into it in waitrose, I do then empty at till and refill after paying. Much easier than carrying a basket or trying to lift it into a trolley. Nobody has ever queried it. Just hoping my pred brain doesn't let me walk out without paying one day and get arrested. 😱 Enjoy cc
