A First Peek - "The Many Faces of PMR/GCA" {aka R&R Downunder}

Good Morning! This morning was a creative morning... even though it's cool, dreary and grey! The monster ("she that shan't be named") and I, were inspired to create the first in series of PMR /GCA Face Masks!!

The series is titled "The Many Faces of PMR/GCA" and this first (dual) mask is titled "R&R Downunder." Can you guess who it's for????

Watch this space...

It already resembles me this morning. Is it one of our Aussie friends?

in reply to SheffieldJane

Hahahahahaha. Yes, I thought it looked like I felt... Soggy, upside down, yucky discombobulated, and out of shape!

Oh, and yes, but shhhhhhh, it's a secret. It's for Rimmy and Ruth. ; )

I love that you have found this to do.

in reply to SheffieldJane

Me too!!!!!

HUMPTY DUMPTY! I can see the likeness in myself!!!!

Hahahahahahahaha! Was it the soggy? Or upside down? Or yucky? Or out of shape you related to? Or like me, ALL OF THE ABOVE!

I'm not Humpty shape - definitely have a waist! Just sayin' ...

in reply to PMRpro

Good on you! I have a waist too... it's just as wide as my hips now!!!!

The worst thing is that jeans these days come in that shape! If they fit my bum they are about 2in too big on the waist...

in reply to PMRpro

I used to have that problem, pre-pred!!!!

Now, not so much.

Thank you, another silver lining!

Good egg Humpty! Just fell off the wall that's all! That's my fantasy take!! It's not an easy wake up to this illness. Love your tough humour it will get you through.

in reply to

You are right!!!!! It SUCKS waking up to these illnesses!!!!! If I don't dig deep, find and use my use humour and sarcasm, I'll be huddled in the corner crying... not a good look for me!

I woke with the song "I want to break free" inside my head - due to the shock of looking in mirror with glasses on - and finding Freddie Mercury moustache looking back..... As I am on holiday, my creative time today was spent duly pruning. I now resemble your head. Can't wait to see finished product.

in reply to Pongo13

GREAT song! And thank you for that image!!!!

You should have posted a photo of YOUR finished product!!!!

Go mamici! Art will save us.

in reply to Mstiles

Hehehehehehehehe.

It will certainly keep me sane!!!! ...or at least contribute to my staying as sane as possible!

To me it expresses how are previous identities are buried somwhere under the PMR/GCA, prednisone, symptoms......etc

But that’s just my thought! Everyone interprets art in their own way....

in reply to Mstiles

Ooooooo, I like it!!!!! I like thinking the REAL me is not dead, just buried alive, somewhere under all the PMR/GCA crap!

Ummm Melissa --uuummm for US !!!???? - it has sometimes been said we are 'joined at the hip' - someone once called us 'siamese twins' ( but never 'two-faced' ) and we often share our brains completing 'eachother''s sentences ... we ARE actually quite 'close' but physically VERY different - Ruth is a long lean athletic 'vegan' and 'moi' - well I have frequently been described as having a 'big head' (literally) !! and as for the rest of me well - I'm all in 'proportion' ...so with THAT 'brief' we wish you phenomenal creative strength and imagination - you'll need it - but we KNOW you have 'the goods' !!

How EXCITING !!!! - could this be the first artwork in a travelling 'global' exhibition with any funds raised supporting research for PMR/GCA ....

XXXX

in reply to Rimmy

HaHa! Yes, I told you that you'd (the both of you!) would be the first!!!!!

But alas... what you see is not always what you get!

I have plans for this beauty, you will be together, but separate; created from one, but two. similar, but very different...

...all will be revealed! AT CHRISTMAS!

Hahahahahaha

Yep, life is definitely upside down. The all encompassing feeling of being a mess, hair, skin, brain. Nothing as it was..... Mirrors to be avoided and don’t look in shop windows, a stranger looks back.

It’s good to have a project to focus your mind. A realise of creative energy does you a world of good.

in reply to Jean56

Yes indeedy Jean56! So many masks, so little time!!!!

I've really enjoyed this thread..beautiful writing, humor and wit. Reading it picked me up. I can't concentrate very well lately and my English is declining fast, I can only communicate in Spanglish lately.. lol. So reading this and "getting it" made me feel normal for a while.

in reply to Gaijin

¡BUENO! Todos tenemos acceso a Google translate, así que si pierdes tu inglés todos juntos, ¡todavía te respaldamos! ¡Feliz esta breve edición de editor que te dio una recogida! xxxx

Wow! That's a perfect translation... at least grammatically. I used to translate for a living...I remember when the e-translators started, they were more a nuisance than anything else... it was harder to correct than to just translate yourself. But this is amazing.

in reply to Gaijin

OH! Cool, I always wondered if it translated accurately!!!

¡BUENO!
