Hello, I’m the 88 year old who walked for 7 miles on my birthday with my daughter. She wrote on my behalf yesterday as I’ve just been moved back to 15mg of Pred. from 1mg as my symptoms came back. My daughter has read me all your kind and helpful replies. Thank you all. She has now uploaded this App for me to read your posts. I’m not that quick on the iPad so bear with me please as I learn to navigate this new App. Thank you.

Welcome - and we hope you enjoy being with us!

Glad you joined us. I only use a smartphone that autocorrect so make lots of mistakes no one seems to mind! Sorry you have had to increase pred but you are not alone in that.🌻

Hi Pongo13

I am 70, a man, only got GCA. I dream of having a decent walk. I'm still suffering from pain in my lumbar region cause when spine bone L1 fractured in 2016 and I found out Osteoporosis had reactivated. Still on 8 Paracetamol a day. and have Klinefelter's Syndrome which affects all my skeleton gave me a curved spine at 14. Lots of other conditions, am unsteady on my feet use walking sticks to assist that walking I can do.

I take my hat off to kendrima your seven miles is fantastic and something I'll strive for when I get back on my feet properly.

Kind regards

Colin

Mr elmes - you must surely be resilient - and resilience is definitely an attribute with PMR but even more so for gca.

I'm so very glad you've come to join us. It's very encouraging to all of us that there's a 7 mile walk in our future, too!

We're hoping that your current flare will be shallow and short lived, and that you'll be out there trekking again soon.

In the meantime, get lots of rest and focus those chair exercise sessions mailnly to keeping your range of motion as opposed to lots of reps, at least until your flare subsides. Let your body use its energy to subdue the flare.

We're here to chat whenever you like. Don't worry about being perfect in using the site. We're not!

Welcome kendrima, There is always someone to answer your questions on here. Your 7 mile walk makes me feel a bit sheepish, I’ve definitely got to get out there again. Spring is in the air.

Welcome and I'm another person who is so impressed by your 7 mile walk. I love walking but haven't done a 7 mile walk since diagnosed. Maybe reading about you and spring being just around the corner will inspire me 😊
