I know I can't take ibuprofen but can I take aspirin?
(Listening to the geneticist on R4 saying that potentially it really is wonder drug for hearts and cancer)

Why?
If it is as the low dose form then it has been advised for GCA in the past but is now to be un-recommended as the benefits do not outweight the risk of gastric bleeding.
If it is as pain relief then the odd dose won't hurt but it is, like all the NSAIDs, associated with a risk of gastric bleeds. So is pred and with both together there is an increased risk of bleeding.
Examples of NSAIDs:
aspirin.
celecoxib (Celebrex)
diclofenac (Cambia, Cataflam, Voltaren-XR, Zipsor, Zorvolex)
diflunisal (Dolobid - discontinued brand)
etodolac (Lodine - discontinued brand)
ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil)
indomethacin (Indocin)
Hi
Was/am on small dose 75mg for BP before during and after Pred with no problem.
I took asprin during early days of PMR, it was prescribed for suspected TIA ( turned out NOT to be) however, got Gastric Ulcer which then took 2 years to heal so won't be trying that again!
