80 Ain't so bad.....

Okay... it's still early days (only day two), but I haven't grown a second head or anything yet! My headache and body aches are gone, the debilitating fatigue seems to be lifting... maybe this isn't the end of the world. However, what the hell is that constant BUZZING sound? It's like a freakin swarm of bees in my head. And why do I feel like I have just snorted a 1/2 gram of coke? Okay... maybe the jury's still out on 80!

Yes, I got that buzz and it’s improved as the dose has gone down. At 10.5mg when it starts to go into my system I get tinnitus for a couple of hours that sounds like someone at the back of the orchestra with a triangle who is a bit put out at not getting any limelight so they have decided to give it some.

😂 great description. Welcome to my world, I have bad tinnitus, nothing to do with Pred it PMR , I’ve had it for years. On holidays a while back, someone in a neighbouring apartment started drilling very early in the morning. Lying in bed, my hubby said - your tinnitus must be bad today, I can here it from over here! 😁

Love your description though!

I too have tinnitus... have had it for years! Between the constant high pitched ringing and the new buzzing noise, I can't tell if I'm in a Si Fi movie or an Apiarie!

I would strongly suspect the “buzzing” is a side effect from 80mgs - a very high dose. As your symptoms have resolved, if it were me, I would be reducing from that dose pretty sharply, even if only by a tiny amount, unless you have any visual problems, in which case off to A&E.

So glad you are feeling better. 80mg must be doing the job getting rid of the built-up inflammation. Regarding the rest, yep, energizer bunny on speed. That’s what I felt like on high doses. And that was 40mg, I cannot imagine what 80mg is like. Looks like the creative juices are flowing. How about doing some painting while your brain is on overdrive? Something abstract.

How do you know what it feels like to have snorted coke - any amount? ;-)

I came of age in the early 70s... grew up in an inner city in the USA. I have a colourful past, and I own it 100%! It made me who I am today... and I like me, so it's all good.

No-one ever believed us when we said we were never offered anything at uni in the early 70s...

Laughing, I originally had written, pull out some low riding bell bottoms, a tie-died tshirt (or halter top) and put on the Stones to relive the 70’s but thought it might be too telling. So erased and went the artist route.

First instincts... always right!

No one ever offered me anything in the 60's but a few asked what I was on and did I have any spare. Wonder where I got the energy from don't have it now. 😱

That’s funny, CT! (The first part; not that you don’t have it now.)

Good morning mamai, I have no advice to add,

only a ginormous virtual hug💜❤️💜.

These heavy- duty drug days really “suck”! You are doing well to keep your sense of humor, and I hope you make it through this phase quickly to find some relief from the crummy “sides” of pred.

Kindly, Jerri

Thank you!

Hi,

No wonder you’re on a super “high” - if you think about it, more than 8 times more cortisol coursing through your veins than normal.

During my 2 weeks at 80mg I could talk for England, and swept through the housework like a swirling dervish!

Nowadays I can still chat, but as for the housework - no sirree!

Ha ha ha !!! Mamaici - good description of being on a high dose of Pred - the stuff I tried in the 70's did some pretty weird things but never quite did the high pitched buzzing thing which I also got at 50-60gms of Pred. Yes pretty wild isn't it - I felt like I was sitting on a jet engine - like 'mad witch' (I LIKE and approve of witches BTW) on a broomstick with everything rushing by at hyper-speed. But as others have said you shouldn't need to stay 'up' there for too long and that is good cos it can become quite exhausting after a while and a 'ragged' feeling can creep in - well that's what i experienced anyway. But in the meantime make the most of it - I pruned several huge old apricot trees when i was at a high dose - in a quarter the time it usually takes me.

Best wishes - and love the 'artistic' use of those ordinary looking little tablets !

Gosh, I thought you had turned 80 (I will in April) and telling me it was not so bad!

in reply toGrammajoy

Hahahaha! Congratulations!!! Nope, I'm just 63, but taking 80 mg of Pred! I wasn't too happy about it, but really no choice.
