Is it the lower back or buttocks. Sorry to be personal ! I had terrible pain in lower back and buttock when standing or going uphill. I stopped doing both for long periods (chopping veg etc) and use a stool. I thought it had disappeared until I had to go uphill last week and it tweaked a bit. I think others have had myofascial pain (?) In various parts of body too.

It's in the lower back and it's so painful

Perhaps try a hot water bottle and pain killers to see if it helps. Don't sit or stand in one place too long. There's a gentle stretch. Lay on floor or form bed if floor too far or hard. Lay on your back with knees bent and feet flat to floor/bed. Gently rock knees from side to side.

If you can lay in front and push head and shoulders upwards so you stretch lower back..you can use elbows to support upper body. Hope something helps.

Lower back muscles in spasm will do it - I couldn't walk/stand for more than 10 mins and an othopaedic specialist informed me it was wear and tear on the spine and I'd have to live with it - I wasn't 60 at the time!

I ended up in hospital with sacroiliacitis and was finally sent to the Pain Clinic when the quick answer made me ill (it worked though!). The pain specialist prodded my back and found back muscles that were as hard as boards. She sorted that out - and all the low back pain was gone.

A good therapeutic masseur should be able to identify and sort what's what. I also got a lot of relief from Bowen therapy though it doesn't work for everyone. And something called intramuscular stimulation is great too if you can find it - bit like acupuncture but not the same. Google it.

Have a CTScan. Our granddaughter had a sore back turned out to be a tumour. She had a seven hour op to remove it. She was only 13 yrs old. She is fine now. Dr's managed to save her legs just in time. Dr. said never ignore a sore back. Especially in adolescents. I realise you are probably older but best try to sort it out with Dr.

Are you taking enough Magnesium? Helps to relax the muscles.

Try Epsom salt in the bath, and gentle stretching after warmed up the muscles.
