For those who have been following my post I've been reducing 5mg every two weeks. I was on 20mg for one year then started the reduction. I've been completely off for 12 days and feel pretty good. Will be going for blood work on October, 17th. Will keep you posted.
12 Days Prednisone Free: For those who have been... - PMRGCAuk
12 Days Prednisone Free
Well done, congratulations!
Good to hear of someone else who has reached the Pred free zone. Well done
Great news Ligtocicar. No going for things like a bull at a gate now - it can take up to a year post steroids for our bodies to return to their pre-PMR/steroid days.....lots of hormones to sort themselves out.
I agree, you have to be extremely careful. Absolutely insist that the anaesthetist gives you a shot of hydrocortisone, if you have a surgical or investigative procedure, under sedation or anaesthetic. After 6 years of PMR I was finally free of it. I tried to tell the anaesthetist I should be given the shot because of long term Pred, he refused, some crisis happened while I was under and I awoke attached to drips, oxygen, cardio monitor, blood pressure etc, being specialed by two nurses, who kept urging me to take deep breaths. I had been PMR free for over 5 months. For a week after the procedure (an ultrasound endoscopy) I felt poorly, in the next week the stiff neck, shoulders etc came back. I had a recurrence of PMR. That was three and a half years ago and I am still struggling with PMR and Pred dosage. I feel that as I am getting ever closer to 80 years the chances of full recovery are very slim now.
That is wonderful!!! All this within a year, humm!! I agree with the others be very, very careful. I'm still struggling after almost 6 years to get down to a low dosage. Currently between 5 1/2 and 6. Best of luck, keep us updated.
Wonderful news!!
Sounding really good. What's the weather like on that side of the rainbow?🌈 Well done for leaping and thank goodness you landed soft!
Congratulations
