Me too! For the first time properly since chemo 13 years ago. Got a beard to match though.....

Mine had just disappeared over the years along with leg and underarm hair and eh...downstairs. 😳

Not happy with the leg and pit situation and, yes, you're right the beard and sideburns are coming along nicely too. Don't get me started on nose hair! πŸ˜‚

Boo I had been hoping that chemo 26 years ago meant I would escape a beard ho-hum πŸ˜‚

Mine too. Never had to groom them before. Unibrow coming.

Ah, the monobrow. I never gave mine a chance with my trusty tweezers. I tried to search famous people with monobrows to be encouraging. It started well with Frida Kahlo but then quickly it went from George W (when young) to Bert from Sesame Street and Groundskeeper Willie from The Simpsons πŸ™„

Hi

I have lovely eye lashes for first time ever

PMRpro profile image

Eyebrows improved, nails fabulous on higher pred doses, no need to shave pits, legs acceptable (I live in mainland Europe, no-one cares). And the lovely black beard went away again :-)

GerriMc profile image

That sounds good!

And yes, it's true....for the first time in my life now, at the age of 62, I have cleavage!

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassadorβ€’ in reply toGOOD_GRIEF

You might find that side effect a boon - I didn't! I maxed out at a 34GG I think. Back to a 32E and shrinking more I hope.

I have NEVER understood women who wanted to be that by choice...

GOOD_GRIEF profile image
GOOD_GRIEFβ€’ in reply toPMRpro

Well, never before having filled an A cup, this is a very interesting development for me...and now I'm just about to fill a B...

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassadorβ€’ in reply toGOOD_GRIEF

There I can understand a desire to be a tad more curvy - but a 34GG????? You fall over forwards and can't sleep on your stomach...

GOOD_GRIEF profile image
GOOD_GRIEFβ€’ in reply toPMRpro

I can understand that.

But having a chest that is convex instead of concave is a real kick for me...

Plus I have an excuse to go shopping...

Since we're on the lighter side I want to know if it's safe to get injectibles...Botox, Restalyne? My wrinkles are bothering me! A bit frightened because of Prednisone. Called top plastic surgeon and he said it's safe. I know I should love myself as I am but improvement is not bad for dating at 69!

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassadorβ€’ in reply toSandy1947

Nothing would induce me to mess with injectables - and I don't care how "top" the plastic surgeon is. He's still there to make money out of me.

I'm proud of my wrinkles, they are the result of smiling a lot and gaining loads of experience! Not to mention - I can think of SOOO many ways to spend the money otherwise :-)

I agree about Dr. making $ and other places to put the $. Thanks for your opinion.

Sandy, some time ago a friend of mine had botox for migraine and her wrinkles vanished. I was quite envious but her face is no longer as expressive, so I'm not so sure it was a good side effect for her after all.

I was never as big as you but I was big enough and I got a breast reduction. And like you I never understood women who wanted to bear the burden of carrying around such large breasts.

sondya profile image
sondyaβ€’ in reply toAmkoffee

I laugh when I think of the days of puberty when we stuffed socks into bras then rushed into cinema toilet to remove them just in case boyfriend had other ideas . . . not a chance. Those were the days of purity and innocence and best behaviour.

Not me. I think I woke up at the age of 9 and had breasts. My mom had to decided it was time I get a bra. I was too young to even think about it.

I have fat under my arms, have grown a hump on the back of my neck and shoulders and a belly to make a woman carrying twins look malnourished. All after 9 years of Pred.

Klah profile image
Klahβ€’ in reply toGOOD_GRIEF

Wait a minute! Are all of you saying that prednisone caused an increase in bust size? So, now I am having increased breast issues while tapering prednisone (while on Actemra too)....have blamed the hormone replacement....am I mistaken?

GOOD_GRIEF profile image
GOOD_GRIEFβ€’ in reply toKlah

Well, it may not be true for others, but my cups runneth over right now, and the only thing I take besides D2 and calcium is pred...I'm going to make the most of the cleavage while I have it...I expect as with other side effects, it will diminsh with tapering...face and neck already slimming down...collar bones about to reappear...

I've decided to see it as a little compensation for everything else...

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassadorβ€’ in reply toKlah

Who knows - but boobs do tend to grow when you put on weight. And I did put on weight when I was on Medrol. I then was switched to a form of prednisone and went low carb - I lost 35lbs in weight, all from the typical pred-fat-deposits: around my middle (got my waist back), on the back of my neck and round my face.

sondya profile image
sondyaβ€’ in reply toPMRpro

With advancing years and the good life, there was loss. Like no more neck and no more waist. It's now 'waist not, want not'. Can't fully blame preddie on looking like Humpty Dumpty.

My hair turned curly - used to wish for that when young but a nuisance now! Understand can go straight again on reduction.

sondya profile image
sondyaβ€’ in reply tojoat

Tell me about it! So has mine. I thought it was a nuisance, unmanageable and flew in all directions - up and out. Joked about it, saying if Einstein could live with it, so could I and they called me Sandy Austein. I looked like Shrek the NZ sheep. But my friends are all admiring and my hairdresser did a lovely job styling it shorter. I wish it would stay like this forever.

What fun comments. Can't wait for my eyebrows to grow in and b fashionable!

nevagivup profile image
nevagivup

Surprising how Pred affects hair growth differently for each of us. My eyebrows almost vanished, along with my eyelashes. I've grown a beard, but the hair on my head thinned a great deal and the hair on the crown doesn't grow at the same rate as the rest of my head. In fact, it doesn't need cutting for over a year, while the other layers need trimming frequently.

maria40 profile image
maria40β€’ in reply tonevagivup

Yes it is strange. My eyebrows, never thick, vanished completely at higher doses but now, hovering around 10mg , they've started to come back. Fortunately, I'm reasonably adept with an eyebrow pencil to even up the gaps!

Amkoffee profile image
Amkoffee

I hope it stops there with your eye brows. I've noticed some peach fuzz sideburns on my face lately.

GerriMc profile image
GerriMcβ€’ in reply toAmkoffee

Oh I'm getting them too ! Time to get out the epilator! Ouch!

tgca profile image

Oh, I wish my eyebrows would grow back as I look like my uncle with sprouting half brows.. not funny as I'm completely hopeless with makeup!

I perhaps shouldn't say this but have found it really funny reading this thread - unfortunately though or perhaps comforting in a weird way, have recognised myself in many of the scenarios.

Aw thanks so much everyone. Haven't had such a good laugh in ages! You're all legends! ❀️

And I've got the 'moon' face, so no wrinkles, but it's early days.

sondya profile image

Got the spider-legs eye brows though I think these were inevitable even before prednisone.

Epilator working overtime coping with peach fuzz on face.
