Cold, dead feet and ankles

As I am new to this site I am working through my symptoms to shed light on their relevance to thIs condition . I have been so pleased with so much help so far so forgive me if becoming a bore.

Is anyone experiencing stiff, cold, dead feeling feet and ankles? Could it be due to gca causing constriction of circulation. It affects my walking but also uncomfortable even in bed.

Hello, I've got some questions to help others to answer your query. Is this a new symptom? Have you mentioned to it to a doctor? Have you had any investigations to check your blood vessels in the body at any time?

To add to Snazzy's questions:

Has anyone listened to the pulses in your ankles? How far can you walk and do you get cramp in your calves? Do your feet change colour?

To all you lovely people. I have had the pulses checked in my ankles by the doctor and diabetic clinic and they say they are normal. I have also had an Electromyogram and they said within the nomal range and no deeper disease indicated.

I do not get cramp just this dead feeling as Griggser says and my feet do not change colour. When walking I swing my feet forward and place them on the ground but disconcerting when you can't feel them properly. My calves feel solid so still feel as if related to circulation.

Good luck to you all with your ongoing problems.

I don't have GCA, just PMR, and yes my feet are always cold now and definitely a numb feeling. Their not cold to the touch but I'm always complaining about having cold feet. I also find the numbness can affecting braking in the car as I can't feel the pedals as well. I sometimes brake a bit harder than I mean to especially at slower speeds and when coming to a stop in moving traffic. I've not been able to find anything to help and the doctor was either dismissive or couldn't find any physical cause.

Griggser, as I read I was thinking that was all me and an answer was forthcoming. Not your fault. I have an excellent Doctor ,she feels the ankles as a matter of course, my blood pressure is good ,pulse also. I find when I go swimming -crawl I get those feet moving like the Pro's. I can feel the pain at the onset but the time I have finished I can feel my feet ,pain is gone and swelling also. But that is once a week. What it is and /or the long time solution I lack that info. I must pursue it further. It is nice to know that I am not putting it on, I hasten to add that I am sorry that you are so inflicted and others also? John- PS I am investigating the Bodi-Tek Circulation Plus Active Foot Massager. it uses EMS Tech. and others like but will also seek advice in using - I am seeing my Rhuemy. soon- you can only hope. In the meantime my feet are beginning to ache and feel 'alive' ,warning been sitting at the Comp. too long! Take care John.

"the doctor was either dismissive or couldn't find any physical cause."

How hard did he look?

Not very hard, he did check pulse and had a general feel. I didn't push it as it was one of the lesser troublesome ailments if you get my drift. I've had numb feet for years and have mentioned it many times. I just put up with now as hips are they main pain issue for me and the feet are a minor irritant.

~I have complained of peripheral numbness in my feet since the inception of PMR diagnosis Jan/Feb 2014.

My blood sugar has remained stable during this time so no diabetic profile - I am strict with diet for this to be so.

Ankles swell regularly, right one I have rolled several times. I now have ongoing issues with right one & due to have x-ray & ultrasound as recommended by physio. Rheumi usually offers an injection when mobility becomes difficult.

Feet not warm anymore & can only think that possibly sclotherapy (injected leg veins) that I had winter 2015 & 2016 may have had something to do with this - the veins in right leg ended up worse than prior to treatment.

Our blood vessels are interrelated majorly with PMR, can only think this may be a clue?

Good luck :) :)
