chronic nail fungus now turned black

hello everyone, i have had a chronic nail fungus for years on my index fingernail, i now have a part of it turned black about 3 weeks or so ago, i,m wondering if prednisone after all these mos, since last oct, or pmr could be a factor, my gp didn,t show any concern, told me to put nailpolish over it, the pharmacist said probably my immune system caused this, but after so many mos, i wonder, he also advised the best treatment was a product called jubiia, but the reviews ive read on it are not promising, also read could be more serious, such as nail cancer, which i had never heard of, has anyone out there had this happen to them by chance, i,m thinking i should see a dermatologist, it is not hurting, but very unsightly, and bothers me a great deal, appreciate your input thank you

Black marks in the nails CAN be a sign of skin cancer that is in the nail - if you google it you will get pictures so you can see if yours looks like that. Your GP should recognise that anyway.

Pred does tend to encourage fungal infections, especially when used long term, so if you have a history of chronic nail fungal infection that is most probably what has happened.

I use Boots equivalent of Cure a nail . You apply weekly and it takes time but works
