I guess the tears maybe because you're realised he's not a little boy anymore, but on the threshold of becoming a man! You should rightly be very proud!
Tears of celebration, joy and relief this time round, I hope, for good reason! You know he has a plan for his future. Though I agree probably tinged with some regret and sense of loss.
Having a 25 year old and 19 year old son I despair at the challenges young people face today. At least when we were younger there was work to be had, employment on the cards and that if we worked hard we could get on the housing ladder etc.
My eldest works all the hours God sends (full time and constant overtime) on a self employed basis, with one company. (Recently nominated for National Young Engineer of the Year Award by a very satisfied project Manager of a job he did). His girlfriend works long hours and has been on contract with same hair salon for seven years. They are struggling to get a mortgage and obviously need a deposit, but it's ok for them to be spending Β£1,000 a month putting this into the pocket of the landlord of their privately rented flat! Never mind thinking about a family and providing them with stability of accommodation.
Our Baby Boomer legacy I suppose.
Congrats to your Grandson. He will get excellent training with the Navy that will open many doors in the future, either within the Navy or further afield.
That is wonderful PMRandRA. Thank God for grandchildren! Well done him! He will look a dreamboat in the uniform I bet. Thanks for sharing the reason for your happy tears. π£
Wonderful what our grandchildren can do for us. I heard yesterday that my eight year old grandson, who's a very talented violinist, has just been accepted for second stage (final) audition for the Yehudi Menuhin School. Feel so proud of him and the aches and pains just faded into the background.
As a music teacher I am aware of how significant this is for your Grandson maria40. He must be extremely talented and only eight years old! What a fabulous opportunity for him. Keep us posted.
Thank you. We're very excited. My daughter teaches piano so he's obviously inherited the gift. It was a learning curve for us as both my daughters were adopted from India and we were taken by surprise when, after seeing a piano for the first time as a tiny girl, within weeks she started to pick out the tunes of Christmas carols. Her sister (natural sister) has a beautiful singing voice but doesn't do much about it so it's lovely that Alexander is carrying on the tradition. sad only that my husband didn't live to see it.
How lovely! Obviously you and your husband did a great job. I am sure hubby is looking down from the best seat in the house and is equally as proud as you are. Best wishes to you and yours. Enjoy X.
Oddly enough Marylyn, my husband didn't get on with my grandson at all. But then he was the same with our three children. He didn't like me doing the Mum or the Gran thing. Jealous.
Congratulations to your grandson! You must be so proud! Keep us updated on how he gets on...
We heard last week that my niece had passed her first year medical school exams after having to repeat the year (this was her second and last chance) and there were tears all round, so I'm not surprised about your tears!
