Patches of bruising

Hi

Not posted for awhile. Just returned from visit to Australia and long journey. Took extra pred on flight as my consultant suggested. I was on 8 mg and now a bit headachy so taken 10. Both forearms suddenly quite large patches of bruising. I have had this before but not as big. Should I be worried? Is 10 enough?

I wouldn't worry unless it keeps on and/or gets worse.

I developed strange bruises after long haul flights - no idea why unless I'd been fighting with the seats or luggage! I don't normally bruise with pred or the anticoagulant I also take. But it went away.

How was Australia? Did you have a good time?

No shouldn't worry about it. I found I had a lot of bruising all through Pred. Still get the odd one now and again even though off it for 7 months, including bloodshot eyes - very fetching.

Its a bit unsightly, but not much else. I always found that Arnica cream help reduce the worst.

Hope you enjoyed Oz.

Down to 2.5mg and my handsand arms still have numerous bruises! One touch or one small knock and here comes another one! Bloods OK so just ignore them. Mind you OH gets upset in case people think he is battering me!

Hi Pat..... I have a completely unrelated to PMR /GCA question. What does OH stand for? I live in the US and I am not sure I have read or heard that term for husband before (I'm assuming that the H is for husband ?) Thanks in advance for answerering this very trivial question of mine. Suzanne

Other Half Suzanne! In other words my poor long suffering husband

OH = other half......

British, old-fashioned + humorous : a person's wife or husband : better half

I don't believe we have anything planned for that night, but let me check with my other half.

Thank you so much for the " other half " answer.....it makes perfect sense of course! We use similar terms here in US... I just not had seen the abbreviation: OH ... it is a good idea though. Suzanne
