Saw a different gp on Friday 7th as, steroid brain caused me to miss my appointment earlier that week. I had reduced steroids from 15 to 6 over 9 months. Had hip pain. He told me go on 10mg for a month and reduce a mil over 6 weeks. Had hip xray. Nothing found! Also thanks to this group he has put me infor a Dexa scan so if that is ok can come off aa. Now my brain is fuzzy on higher preds AND I still have one hip pain. What could it be I am fed up.

Hi, Stroppymoo I thought I'd drop a reply until PMRpro or DL reply.
You're back on 10mg from 6mg since Friday? Am I reading that correctly? It's 1am & l can't sleep!
It may take a day or two for all the pain to subside, did you have both Hips X-rayed?
I had an X-ray recently & GP said it's 'normal' I'd like to see the result for myself as it wasn't 'normal' three years ago! I'm on 6.5mg at the moment & it's holding the PMR but I have two painful knees & one bad shoulder, with the other one threatening to come out in sympathy 😬
I hope you feel better tomorrow & your not too fuzzy from the Prednisolone 💐
Best Wishes
Mrs N
If what you have is bursitis - which is the most likely if you have PMR - then an x-ray won't show it:
"Imaging tests. X-ray images can't positively establish the diagnosis of bursitis, but they can help to exclude other causes of your discomfort. Ultrasound or MRI may be used if your bursitis can't easily be diagnosed by a physical exam alone." (Mayo Clinic)
So you haven't got osteoarthritis or RA - the x-ray showed that. Did he examine you? Did he press over the bony bit of your hip on the outside at the top? I haven't time to find a link for it just now - but if it is bursitis as part of PMR raised oral pred may work but it takes a long time, an injection is better.
Yes he did. The pain is middle on buttock on the outside bit. Hard to explain. Been on 10 for two weeks not made much difference to pain really.
Have been neglecting postural exercises a lot. Physics nearly always blame poor posture. Thanks for help peeps
Don't they just!!!! One told me my back problems were all due to posture and it was my own fault... Really nasty she was! The one finally helped me snorted when I told her what the other one had said. "No - your posture is not causing the back problem, the back problem is causing the posture, you adopt the position that hurts least..." And we did something about it!
All my life I was teased about poor posture, told to hold my had up, etc.. Finally found someone, my osteopath, who realigned me so that I could begin to do the exercises that have helped me stand up straight. I remember the session when she ipen d up my chest and shoulders. I left feeling as though I'd been let out of jail for the first time. I really relate PMRPro!
So tired of being blamed for the things we suffer. Frustrated and angry too.
