DXA scan

Having had PMR for 4.5 years and having taken Pred in lowering doses, (together with Alendronic Acid once per week and ADCAL twice a day since that time), I spoke to my Rheumy about having a DXA scan, as I had never had one. He organised the scan at my local hospital last week. The scan was very straightforward and the whole procedure took about 8 minutes. I was told that the results would be available in 2/3 weeks.

Strange to say, the day after the scan my hip joints started to feel slightly sore. This has continued for several days now. With every step I am aware of a small nagging pain in both hips, which was never there before. Is this normal? Have other members of this forum experienced anything similar? Neither my Rheumy nor the scan operator mentioned anything. I'd welcome your comments. Thanks.

I've had 3, never had any problems. I know one lady felt very uncomfortable as a result of the position they wanted her to lie in. There is certainly nothing about the scan itself that could cause anything like that.

I had a DEXA scan a month ago and apart from having my left leg held in a slightly awkward position during the scan, I've suffered no ill-effects.
