Good Morning
Quick question this morning. Do any of you have memory problems. I've had many occasions now when apparently I've been told something but have no recall of what was said. I'm so worried and concerned about this I'm making an appointment with my GP to find out what is going on.
Any thoughts most welcome. Thanks in advance.
Post menopause I seemed to have poor memory and I think it has got worse since I had GCA. I think someone told me it was yet another problem with the steroids. It has caused me to forget to take the Pred twice. Certainly, I seem to be forgetting quite basic things
Probably a combination of Pred and age! But best to get things checked. Hope all okay
I'm sure it's partly an 'age' thing. I do sometimes find myself staring at a wall desperately trying to remember what I was doing/going for that led me to that particular wall!
Apparently it is only really a problem when you go into the loo and can't work out why you are there...
I agree with Dorset Lady - a combination of Pred. and age. Also, I don't sleep well, so am often tired, which doesn't help. Was comforted, yesterday, when out to lunch (literally and metaphorically!) with my former teaching colleagues (all mid-sixties) and we were one as bad as the other, so by all means see your GP, but be prepared to find that the flesh is willing, but the brain needs a bit of extra time, these days!

Thanks to all you who replied and well wishes to my question of memory loss. I appeciate it. I have the brain fog often (plenty of post it notes all over the house etc, etc), not too worried about that, hoping to be reassured by GP, got an appointment next week; just to make sure there's nothing untowards going on. I'll let you know outcome. Thanks again.
I have suffered with it for several months. Get lost driving, can't remember topics of conversation, No short term memory (as in a zip code repeated to me) I instantly lose it. Depression got very bad. Math became very difficult. I'm kind of relieved to see it mentioned, it's more than just brain fog, I think. I am 56 .
Are you on any other medications? Someone on another forum had the same problems - couldn't even get home sometimes, really quite scary. His GP said it was the mix of drugs he was on - I hope they revised them! But several drugs can contribute to the problem - and together that can be worse.
Thanks PMRpro. Sorry for delay in replying. Yes, I'm on other drugs as well. My lovely consultant rheumatologist has now retired and sadly the new one I saw last week, well let's just say I wasn't impressed. None the wiser at the mo sadly, but definitely not as bad as not finding my way home, now that would be really scary. They've tested for B12 deficincy, came back normal, but I'm not convinced that my memory loss hasn't got anything to do with a deficiency. Have many other symptoms which applies to B12 deficiency. Seeing my GP next month, yes takes about 6 weeks to get an appointment, that's UK for you these days. With luck I will get some answers once I've had the GP consultation. As for my new rheumy, not sure what to do about that at the moment.
Just to add, one of the fist things she asked me was had I gone through the menopause? I'm 68 and in any event I had a full hysterectomy at 49. I ask you.
Now trying to taper my pred... dead slow regime, tx to you and lots of other help here on this forum. But the sun's shining and spring's really springing here in southern UK, where I live. Tx again.
Me too, it's not just brain fog, which I think we all suffer from whether or not we have PMR or GCA. Luckily I don't get depressed, but sleep can be elusive for sure, which obviously doesn't help. My shorte term memory is rubbish, and I rely on post it notes to remind me about bits and pieces. Ohh happy days. But we're still here and I'm happy for that. Now back to my beloved garden. Slowly does it, and bending down is such an effort these days. Take care.
