I have had PMR for one year now and have quite a stressful few months. I had a total hip replacement seven weeks ago and am recovering well. But my PMR has had a flare up and I am back up to 15m.g of preds. Tonight my scalp is feeling quite tender....no other symptoms , should I be concerned ?

Scalp tenderness
Hope your surgery is healing well.
My scalp tenderness happened at the same time as jaw pain. Both were a week or so after right sided headache. That is when I went to doctor and they upped me to 50 mgs for GCA.
I don't know if scalp tenderness by itself is an indication of GCA.
My scalp felt like sores were popping out in two spots.
Hi,
Scalp tenderness certainly can be an early sign of GCA, but on its own it could be other things as well. As you are already in flare following your hip surgery it would be sensible to discuss with doctor, just to be sure.
I had scalp tenderness. Noticeable when I washed my hair each day in shower it hurt. I also felt it as the back of my head touched the pillow at night. Like Lin-Calf I also had headaches unusual for me and jaw pain which my dentist diagnosed as jaw trauma. However it was googling tenderness to head that brought up GCA and thankfully led me to visiting GP and she organised a set of blood tests the same day and the ESR reading of 124 confirmed her diagnosis of GCA.
Keep an eye on it and if anything else happens or it gets worse go to the doctor. I had a tender scalp for some weeks with PMR and then it went away - very unusual it seems but...
Yes....call your doctor. It could be a sign of GCA.
