Hi everyone a quick question. I have been taken it very easy today and in doing so not feeling quite as bad. Still symptoms but not so alarming. I am wondering does resting and the prednisone help someone if the have either CGA or polymyalgia rheumatica?

Yes. Those of us who didn't know that at first lived to regret our increased activity after pred made us feel better! But exercise, not strenuous or prolonged, is very important, provided it's balanced with rest to recover.

Yes, most definitely. Rest is as important, as all the other elements to make life easier with GCA or PMR.

As HeronNS says exercise is also important, but not too strenuous or repetive, something gentle that will keep your muscles moving (Pred can lead to muscle wastage) like Pilates, Yoga or Tai Chi.

Another thing - not so easy to do - is to avoid stress as much as possible.

With GCA or PMR you have to learn to life in slow lane for a while!

You have an illness and all the pred does is reduce the inflammation and thus the pain. You still have to look after yourself as far as the PMR is concerned, pamper yourself and enjoy the rest.

Once again thank you so much everyone for your fast responses. I plan on taking it easy definitely this weekend. I hope all of you have a good weekend yourself. : )

Autoimmune disorders are serious illnesses - and you'd rest if you had flu wouldn't you?

Pacing is essential - there is a thread about it with links to a couple of excellent resources online.
