Ketones in urine: I'm in the process of tapering... - PMRGCAuk
Ketones in urine
Your auto correct has put keystones and I'm guessing you mean ketones which is a diabetic indicator and common in conditions like PMR I believe. What does the GP say?
Haven't been to gp? I'm so sick of being sick I feel like a nuisance.
I can so relate to that feeling. Sick and tired of being sick and tired, imagining the doctor cringing as you rock up yet again. This whole condition seems to be bad for the self esteem especially given the unsympathetic reaction from some medics and others. I often feel really quite pathetic. However, thanks to you all I have learnt something about ketones and cutting out carbs. ( the theory that is).
Um - do you mean KETONES?
Have you cut your carbs a lot? If you are eating very few carbs then you start to use fat to provide the energy you need for the body to function - and more ketones than usual will be produced so that there will be some to be found in blood and urine instead of all of them being metabolised.
On the other hand, if you are diabetic it is something to be concerned about - but not otherwise.
KETONES 4+
Unless you are diabetic there is no need to worry. Ketones are a by product of burning fat...good news if you are overweight! It means you are hungry. As PMR pro says if you are eating less carbs (maybe to aid weight control) then this is good news!
