Sweeteners?: What is everyone using as sweetener. I... - PMRGCAuk
Sweeteners?
I use honey for breakfasts and stevia in my tea........I can't drink unsweetened tea - perhaps you could do some experiments to see which one suits you? There are loads of different sweeteners around. Stevia also comes in a powder form.
This has always been a tough question for me. There's so much controversy about artificial sweeteners. Artificial anything when it comes to what we consume.
Based on the principal that "real food" is best I use a small amount of unpasteurized honey in my coffee and on my oatmeal. If I have to use sugar, I use turbinaro sugar, which is pure cane sugar. I try to limit the amounts as much as possible.
I only use a little sweetener on plain yoghurt. Have a few drops of pure Canadian maple syrup. Given what we now know about artificial sweeteners I'd avoid them like the plague. Try to get organic or pure cane sugar as a lot of our sugar is now made from GMO beets. Or honey as already suggested. ☕🍚
I use old fashioned oats with skim milk and cinnamon, also add some fruit such as bananas, apple, strawberries, blueberries - whatever I have. I don't need sweetener.
Hi . I have been advised to try xylitol .it certainly tastes ok and a friend who told me about it uses it to bake cakes etc . I sweeten my porridge up with a few dates .
I use Stevia, all natural plant product.
If I have to I use Stevia when I need to, and offer it to friends for their cuppa, they seem to like it. It's natural. Worth a try.
Manuka Honey - I teaspoonful - and the added benefit is it is a natural anti-biotic booster. Make sure it is labelled UMF and buy the highest + you can afford.
Manuka honey cream also is brilliant for cuts etc - used sparingly, developed by Addenbrookes. Use your search engine and read.
I use organic coconut sugar for coffee & it has a lovely caramel taste. Easy to find here in NZ, otherwise it's fruit. Why not stew up fruit, without the sugar for your breakfast?
