Hi can anyone tell me if breast tenderness is a side effect when reducing on prednisolone? Gone from 15mgs last August down to 9 mgs this week but breast tenderness and sharp abdominal pains now and again. Are these common and do they go away in time.
Many Thanks

Not something I have ever heard anyone say but looking on the web, breast tenderness is mentioned a few times. Pred does lead to fluid retention and that can cause it.
Probably something to run past your GP, especially with the abdominal pains too.
I too have have had tenderness and swelling but in one breast only also swollen lymph gland on that side. Have seen GP and had a mammogram and been told no problem, just swelling due to pred. Currently on 8mg and I find it comes and goes from time to time.
Since being diagnosed with pmr some 2 and a bit years ago I have had odd pains here and there. some that have stayed the course and I still occasionally get them now and others that disappeared after a month or so. Even so, I always tell my GP and they in turn check them all out. I've had blood tests and numerous ultra sounds and nothing has been discovered and I feel such a fraud! But even so I always go and get them checked out if they persist or they worry me. If you feel worried please visit your GP. All the best, tina
Thanks Tina - I will see my doctor. It's so good to have shared support .It makes it all a little less scary .Thanks to everyone who has replied. Cheers Julie.
I have been on steroids since August 15, have started reducing and also have had breast tenderness, feels just like when you have a period due, have gone through the menopause so it's not that, did wonder if it's the steroids causing the pain.
Hi i am not on Amitriptyline ,I am on tablets for Atrial Fibrillation but the notes don't mention it. Someone said Pred .can affect your hormones so I think it could be that as I used to get it when premenstrual. But thanks for the suggestion.
