Hi just had results from rheumatology after referral from GP after flare up. Al results from blood test normal apart from creatinine kinase 529 units/L still reducing and now on 5mg prednisone any one got a clue what this is all about

The CK test is used to detect inflammation in muscles.

Thanks for that I'm also down for some test EMG studies for evidence of myosotis, made appointment this morning with neurophysiology. To me looks like something else is going on or is this normal with PMR thanks for the prompt reply

Polymyalgia actually means pain in many muscles in Greek. Sums it up I think. Although it does not include feeling exhausted and as if you have been hit a bus. I suppose the Greeks did not have buses in those days. Judging by the referendum it looks like they will not be able to afford any buses or much else in the future either!

Hi Di-Bach,

I think that a raised CK is the diagnostic test for myositis along with the symptoms. A friend has this and has had similar symptoms to me. The treatment is prednisolone ( in the first instance ). I had my CK tested to rule it out early on in my symptoms.
