Cut a tablet

Where can I get a tool to cut a 1mg pred tablet?

Any chemist stocks them. Lloyds, boots, Paydens etc.

I have been taking pred for 16 years and have never been very successful with the pill cutter especially when trying to cut a 1mg pill, they just seem to crumble to a powder so I was wasting a lot, and the 5mgs are not much better to cut, I don't bother now with 1/2 mg doses.

Got mine from local Boots shop. The knack of cutting the tablets (white ones only) is to get the tablet right up into the plastic V shape and don't be too agressive with the cutters! Usually works fine, occasionally doesn't, but I would say 95% it's good. I've found once you get to low doses then 1/2mg is needed, 1mg is too much. For me anyway!

I have worked my regime including half mg doses by combining 5mg, 2.5mg and 1mg tablets to get the required dose with no cutting...but have already arranged with the chemist that when the time comes that I can no longer to that, they will provide the half mg doses pre cut for me. Its worth asking

That's very good of your chemist to pre cut your pills, I wonder what pill cutters they use ?,

I use to be able to get the coated 2.5mg Pred, but they were stopped by my surgery because the coated one's were more expensive, and was told to cut the 5mgs in half

I wonder if my surgery [ I get my prescription from there ] would be so obliging re pre cutting my pills ?

If you go onto Amazon and type in pill cutter there are quite a lot there and you can see the comments people have made which is really useful plus the number of stars allocated. It gives you some idea of any that should be avoided as they are rubbish. You can then buy one you like where you want.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realise there were all sorts of pill cutters, I will go on Amazon and have a look.
