At my last rheumy appointment the consultant wanted to put me on Alendronic acid, or equivalent. I resisted and asked for a DEXA scan. I am nearly 84. I have just had the results:
T-score for AP spine (L1) = -1.4 (-0.3)
T-score for Femoral neck (left)= -1.4(-1.4)
T-score for Femoral neck (right)=-1.0 (-1.0)
The results for March 2013 are in brackets.
By my understanding I don't think I need to take Alendronic Acid,. Would you agree? What does the AP stand for in AP spine?

I believe -1 to -2.5 is considered osteopenia, I know people with osteopenia are on AA and vit D and calcium supplements. I assume you are also on steroids?
I live in Italy and those readings are almost the same as mine - they are considered fine and not in need of anything more than calcium and vit D supplementation. Your left hip is into the osteopeneic range but nowhere near osteoporosis. If it were me I wouldn't agree to taking AA - but that is all I can say and I imagine you may have to fight your corner!
