Hi I am a 59 year old who has had PMR for 26months. I have managed to get back down to 5mgs of Prednisalone but am experiencing PMR symptoms since having a cold for the past two weeks.
Has anyone else experienced a return of symptoms with a common cold?

I've experienced a return of symptoms following any kind of upset, be it physical or emotional. I feel any kind of autoimmune illness stretches our resources to the limit and a further setback is just the camel's last straw - at that point a body tells you that it has had enough and you need to recuperate and restore your systems.
What may be a minor problem to a healthy person is sometimes a major one for those of us who need a little more TLC.
Polkadotcom has said it all. It depends on the person - it makes little difference to me, others are prostrated by a cold. At one time it was suggested the dose should be raised slightly to cover the stress of an infection.
You certainly need to rest more - your muscles are intolerant of acute exercise when you have PMR. Having a viral infection can also do that - professional athletes cut their training considerably when they have a virus because of that and the risk of causing damage to their muscles as a result. Both together - obviously even worse.
I've had a cough and cold ( now gone) for 4 weeks during December and I'm struggling too.
I am on 10mg Pred but I am experiencing quite a few muscles complaining ! I've been diagnosed for 14 months. I'm sorry you are having this problem but find your post reassuring it's not just me. Get well soon.
Yes I got down to 10mg before Christmas and feling Quite good but since beeing ill over Christmas with cough and colds I have ached all over I don't know if it was the cold or if I have had a flare up.
