I seem to remember that you are needing to reduce the steroids quickly? Is that still the case?

How long does it take after a reduction dose for your body to get used to the new dose? There isn't any real answer to that one as it will depend on you as an individual and also which reduction plan you are following.

If you are still needing the quick route, then yes, there will probably be some pain on the new dose. Many of us found that we had pain all the way along whatever we were doing and however we were doing it. A lucky few are relatively pain free, but that isn't usually the case.

As far as I know prednisolone has to be reduced slowly in order that your body has time to get back to producing its own steroids. At least reducing by 2mg every 2 weeks until 5 mg is reached and from then on by 1 mg per month. That is how my rheum has done it with me. Reducing too quickly will cause real problems and your pmr may just return.
