tired again

just finished the nitrofurantoin feel exhausted have got the runs. I know its a waiting game but just wish I could feel a bit less tired. woke up in the night wet through with sweat had to get up and change haven't done that for about 2 years hope I'm not getting a flare as well Wendy

Being ill is enough to cause a flare so if it carries on maybe a tick more pred for a few days?

Hi Wendy , I'm currently going through the same with constant uti's , Nitrofurantoin and drenched with sweat. It's awful , currently on 6mg Pred. Hope you feel better soon. Take care , xx

I've been on 5mg for over six months on rheumys instructions was hoping to reduce but these uti's and Nitrofurantoin are so awful I can't see it ever happening. So lacking in any kind of energy sweating all of the time I have upped the pred for a few days. When I was in hospital last year for a combined pmr/collapse bout the neurologist I saw told me that in the case of any infection I should increase the pred dose for 3 days then go back to where I was before.It doesn't mean you have to go through the reduction bit short increases don't seem to affect the general scheme. That's interesting Wendy . I'm feeling rough with UTI again and don't want to go back say 10mg Pred again and start reducing (which I've done twice now ). But if I went up for 3 days and then back to where I was that doesn't seem as bad. Hope your infection's going now. Take care. xxx

Hi Trenny , yes it did work. It's a relief actually as I know I can do this again if necessary rather than going back up to say 10mg and restarting the slow reduction. Good luck. x
