Feeling tired

Just started back on 50mg for two days. I was on 40mg for a week. For some reason I feel more tired. Is this what happens on a higher dose? That’s ok if it is.

Thank you

I can see it’s worrying but ref earlier posts, In m experience it takes a while to catch up and settle down. Your body is possibly still reacting from being on the lower dose. I’m sure the experts on the site will have more words of wisdom but hope this gives a bit of reassurance

Quite likely, many find higher doses of Pred increase fatigue - and it's listed as a common side effect.. bit of a double whammy for some, as the disease causes fatigue as well, so just monitor things.

Can be. I felt a weird mix of wired but in a daze and unable to move at much speed. A couple of hours after taking non-coated Pred I felt uncoordinated and drunk for a couple of hours.

Yes, that’s the right thinking. No medals for fighting through it at the moment.

Just relax and go with it as I’ve already learnt it’s such a strange disease with many forms affecting people differently. When reducing Pred brought back my symptoms of extreme fatigue I increased my dose by 5mg for a week to get back on track The fatigue started reducing and didn’t come back when I then tapered back down by alternating dose for a further week or so. Yet for others it seems increasing Pred actually causes them to become fatigued. Good job we have this forum to keep us sane

You will find the support and information you need here. There are many useful saved posts with so much detail I found I had to print the key pieces and highlight bits. Good luck.

I have been on 60mg Pred a little over 3 weeks and as per the Dr. instructions I tapered to 50 starting Monday and yesterday afternoon I felt off very tired, I wonder if it was just a bad day or the taper....

Could be either - 10mg is a big change in dose and your body is bound to complain a bit

Sounds about correct timing for body to realise it doesn't like lower dose... see this link -

healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...

..and although it may be the 'suggested' taper it does affect some more than others.. albeit a different scenario to yours when I tapered from 60mg [having been on it for 8 weeks] I went to 55mg for 2 weeks, then to 50mg for 3 weeks, to 40mg for 2 weeks, 30mg for 3 weeks then in 2.5mg steps at 4 or 5 week intervals until 15mg.

One size definitely doesn't fit all..

would also add that 3 weeks at initial 60mg may not have got GCA under as much control as doctor thinks...
