I was diagnosed with PMR and GCA a year ago. I have reduced pred from 50mg to 7mg over that time without a problem, but have begun to feel much more tired lately, and more or less have to have a sleep in the day.I wonder if this is the PMR returning though I hardly have any aches and pains so the steroids work in that respect and my blood tests have all been good. I am not clear whether the steroids improve all aspects of PMR or only the inflammation. Has anybody else experienced this or have any comments? Thanks for any help.

Re tiredness after reducing steroids
Took a year to come down from 50 mg now on 5mg i lost sight in one eye due to GCR all my blood tests normal all the time ,yes still have days need a rest ,but in a year have come long way .The Steroids i am sure help with the pain ,and iinflammation ,.Good luck
I have had PMR for just over two years and am now on 2mg of pred but still get very tired. Sometimes just have to go and have a lie down and if I don't I often fall asleep in my chair.Mind you, I am 72, so that may have something to do with it...
Thanks for the answer. I am 69 so it could have a bearing....but hard to remember what normal was like. Anyway, definitely better than having the pains. All the best.
Hello allotment lover..I have had PMR for 9 years and it's been a real Roller-Coaster ride .. The tiredness gets in the way of my everyday life and I have to give in and rest for at least a couple of hours of an afternoon. If I don't get the rest then the next day is usually much harder to get through. I am 67years old and some people say maybe it's more of an age thing but I'm sure the prednisolone is one of the main causes . This week I am trying to get as much rest as possible as I am on Holiday in a River Lodge in Stratford -on-Avon . The weather's wonderful but I'm still getting exhaustion. Like you say I would love to know what normal life was like once again. Reading other sufferers posts makes you realise what a horrible condition this is. Today was one of my best days for a long time and I even managed to get out for a nice lunch - but slept for 2 hours when I got home, which means that the nights are long.. Never mind - onwards and upwards. I wish you all the best and that you feel better soon. trish29
have good holiday it is a horror of a pain PMR an GCR ,HOPE ALL GOES WELL .
Thank you twowatsons.. I am enjoying the holiday as the Lodge is nice and comfortable and there is so much going on with the Wildlife and the other half goes fishing.. I try to keep up with him but because I've got a yuk day today we have decided just to chill out . l felt so good yesterday but today I am like an old woman - I don't want to be this way but have to accept it. I'm hoping to go out tomorrow . I also have to come down half a mg steroid this week .I've managed 2days so far but keeping an eye on it as I don't want a flare-up. Isn't the Forum great where we help and encourage each other.. Maybe I day we will all be free of it. Thanks and I'm just off to get my nap. trish 29
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. Somehow it helps to know it is not just me, I sometimes think I should pull myself together... Not knowing how days are going to be makes planning hard - I am not normally a "go with the flow " person. A river Lodge sounds lovely, I do hope it restores you.
All the best to you.
