Hello. Had normal blood tests. GP feels pred aff... - PMRGCAuk
Hello. Had normal blood tests. GP feels pred affecting me. Cut down from 15mg to 10mg for 4 days to see how it goes. Any thoughts.
I'd be a bit doubtful about such a large reduction and just 4 days seems an odd amount of time given to it for a trial. I would have asked if I could go down to 12.5mg first - and then I would have alternated 15/12.5mg for a few days.
However, he must think it worth a try if he just 'thinks' Pred is affecting you. I was never in any doubt that it was!
Thank you. He did say to phone him after 4 days to see how its going, not actually only try for a short time. I mentioned alternating doses as you suggest and he said that would be a possibility. So far I have a bit of neck ache and lower back niggling. Its the lack of energy that concerns me. I mopped my tiny kitchen floor and felt exhausted! It takes so long to get going in the morning. I always seem to have a headache across the forehead. SO SORRY. Talk about winge! From reading the board, I know I'm lucky, so many people are really suffering on a daily basis. With best wishes to all. Ann
If you have no pain then go ahead and reduce. I had to go carefully and slowly from 15mg to 10 mg - (over the last 6 months) My Dr suggested dropping 1 mg per month, (after blood tests to see inflammation levels) and not to be afraid of sticking at a level for longer if needed. I did feel rough and tired at times, with some headaches, but only had some reminder pains in the shoulders for a week after dropping from 11mg to 10mg - it then went away without me having to go back to a higher dose.
Recently I have been feeling good so have reduced in the last 2 weeks from 10mg - 9.5mg with no problems at all (so far..............) - firstly alternating doses; then dropping the 10 mg to every 3 days. I even went to Pilates 3 times last week with no ill effects!!
