I've really missed the site but I hate the new format. Like Facebook, they have taken something which works and made it worse!

I hope you are all coping with the heat.

I'm feeling rough, but see my rheumatologist on Thursday.

Take care

Ann

Hi Ann

So sorry to hear you're feeling rough and hope the rheumy can help on Thursday.

As for "coping with the heat" - pheweeee! I live close to Heathrow and it's seen some of the highest temperatures in the country - yesterday when I returned to my car, it took 5 minutes with all the doors open before I could sit on the seat. When I eventually drove off, the temperature was showing 39C! We've had a storm this morning but although the temperature is lower, it is now soooo humid. I've just had a reflexology session and am feeling so relaxed that I don't intend to do anything for the rest of the day!

Hope you feel better soon.

Hello Celtic - trish29 asking if the Reflexology sessions are similar to having Ultrasound . Are they mainly to help you relax or are they Healing ?? As you know I have my Ultrasound treatment with my Lovely Osteopath who put me on to PMR/GCAUK which I find so helpful.. The new Forum has been very testing . I couldn't get into the website earlier ( grrr grrr) but seems to be OK now!! I hope you haven't been cooking in the heat too much today.. It was so humid in Leatherhead this morning.. Trish 29

Hello Trish

No, Reflexology is very different to Ultrasound in that it involves the therapist applying pressure to specific points, known as reflexes, on the feet to encourage the body to heal from within. The therapy is based on the principle that the feet (and hands) contain 'mini-maps' of the whole body and that by applying pressure using the fingers or thumbs a reflexologist can have a positive effect on the corresponding parts of the body.

I have found the perfect therapist for me in that she uses just the right amount of pressure for my sensitive feet! I am finding it incredibly relaxing and almost fall asleep! I started the treatment in the hope that it will reduce my high blood pressure, and I have certainly been getting much lower readings in the last week, even below normal on a couple of occasions, so am wondering whether Reflexology is doing the trick.

Snap with the humidity - in spite of lower temperatures than of late, the humidity has made it feel even more uncomfortable today, and I believe we're promised more of same tomorrow - good excuse to eat lots of cooling ice cream!!!

xx

Hello Celtic .. I'm glad that your reflexology treatment is working for you . I wouldn't cope with it because I can't bare anyone touching my FEET..I will book in for some more ultrasound and gentle massage with my osteopath.. I had a bad night last night for the first time since seeing my Consultant a flare-up not massive but enough so I suppose that means there is inflammation there . Can't think what triggered it off apart from the humidity . I am supposed to reduce the Prednisolone half a millagram a fortnight (maybe I have come down to fast I will take an extra millagram today) I just want to get down by myself if I can... I hope your B/Pressure is OK today. Luv PatF. ( Trish 29 )

Ann,

I have to say that my first impressions were identical to your's. The previous format was much more user-friendly, in my view!

Maybe time will change my opinion, who knows?

Hello Trish

I hope you're having an easy day and napping to catch up on sleep after that bad night. I'm sure you have a point in believing the cause to be the high humidity - it's really debilitating this week. No doubt you're drinking lots of water - we need much more than normal during these weather conditions.

If your pains are coming on immediately following a reduction then bear in mind it might purely be down to steroid withdrawal symptoms and could take a few days to improve; however, if the pain is starting a week or so after the reduction then that generally points to an actual flare.

Thanks for asking about my BP - I'm trying not to take it too often as I don't want to become obsessed. Back at the hospital for a follow-up in a couple of weeks, so that's sure to increase the reading - white coat syndrome!!

Hope you have a better night tonight!

Sxx

hi Celtic ..thank you for your kind wishes .. I only found you by chance this .Forum is such hard work especially when you're not feeling well .. The logging in and out seems a lot better at the moment. I miss seeing a lot of the usual names that always used to pop up on the old Forum. It's nice to see missrat is persevering with posting as well and I hope she's feeling a lot better soon.. I have just had a nice rest and nap after that dreadful night and I've been wondering if it was a flare it could have been down to the Litozen Rosehip tablets,my stomach is very sensitive to vit c which we all need but I can't eat Oranges so maybe .I haven't taken any today. I hope you don't get white coat syndrome in a couple of weeks time. My Partner suffers with that. I only got it when I went to see my old Rheumy I don't think think my new one will have that affect on me. It's nice to have someone treat you like you are human..( it's not my fault that I have this awful PMR)

On one of the forums, when I try to 'Create a Post' it has my last post in it! Confusing and annoying!

I'm having my second blood test tomorrow for the azathioprine. I'm on 10mg prednisolone at present. Very stressed as I have so much to do before my boiler is replaced on Thursday. My back is a nuisance after doing some cage cleaning - gorgeous rats, though!
