Has anyone had Removal of 1 kidney. Being Prepped for dialysis

My mum has just been told that she needs to have one kidney taken out and is soon to be prepped for dialysis which will be 3x a week. They want to operate before Christmas. She is scared and I'm going out of my mind. She has been told that the surgery has many complications. She is on the transplant list, but no donor as of yet. I don't know how quickly she can get a transplant either. I hear it can take years. Very scary thought. How does one find a donor? I am not suitable.

She is in imense pain. Her kidneys are large. She has recently undergone liver surgery too.

I have no idea what to expect and really need to know if anyone's had this surgery done and what to expect. I know every case is different. I need help understanding what to expect

Hi, tell your mum not to panic. I've had both kidneys removed due to their size (5kg each) and apart from the fluid restriction, I am so glad they are gone.

Thank you. She says she will not survive the op due to the possible complications the doc listed. She has various other health problems. I'm trying very hard to keep her positive.

Yes. She has. I am trying to get her to think positive now. I'm trying to keep positive.
