THANK YOU ๐ŸŒบ TO EVERYONE WHO SHARED YOUR STORIES WITH ME IN MY PREVIOUS POST. You all mean so much to me and your caring thoughts and practical guidance helped me on many levels. God bless and keep you all ๐Ÿ•Š

Would like to ask if anyone has been taking oxycodone long or short term... what daily dosage is "too much" or "too little" to adequately alleviate some of your pain?

Love and hugs to all of you. Very much treasured by me ๐Ÿ˜‡ x

Hi Gab63,

I would hope your doctor will have discussed at length the appropriate starting dose. Everyone 's pain levels are different & what dose might work for some, may not be effective for another.

Oxycodone if required is a very good analgesia. It can also become highly addictive for some susceptible individuals. Also please make sure your doctor prescribes medication for your bowels daily when you are using opiates.

It is good practice to take regular analgesia also to have breakthrough analgesia prescribed between doses doses if required.

My advice would be to discuss regular analgesia & if brealthrough is required. Advice on what you should do. Please discuss withyour health professional.

They may start you on the smallest dose & titrate up until your pain is well controlled. It's powerful medication & it's best to have a professional advise you on the dosage for your symptoms.

Therefore you can see if you can tolerate the medication & adjust the dosage when required. I hope that helps & wish you better health. Xx

Thank you ๐ŸŒบ

My pain management doctor has just increased dosage to 20mg slow release morning and 10mg slow release evening. Yes we have thoroughly discussed the drug, benefits and negatives. The higher dose is much better for me and is finally making a small positive impact on my days. I was really just asking to know if others are safely taking higher doses and wanting to read some first hand experiences. This drug isn't very long term for me as soon I'll have surgery to remove what seems to be the cause and praying this will alleviate at least some of my complex acute on chronic pain. It's been a 6 year nightmare to finally find a specialist in a very good hospital who pin pointed the most likely cause of my pain, but nothing is guaranteed in life. God keep you blessed and safe ๐Ÿ•Š๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

I hope your surgery helps you. Glad you have discussed it at length. Some will tolerate higher doses depending on their pain than others.

Yes it's a nightmare seeing different doctors to get a diagnosis at times. I was the same for years. It can be very frustrating & chronic pain as we all know here is very debilitating.

I hope others can relate to you. I was just concerned if you were asking for help with how much to take. Wishing you a speedy recovery and pain free. Much love xxx

Thank you sincerely. Surgery is set quickly within 3 weeks. I've been praying warrior prayers for a solution yo this nightmare, and I'm trusting in my Lord Jesus Christ to acknowledge the testing phase has been completed (and I hopefully passed!) and it's now time for me to move forward stronger and with a firm foundation in Him alone.

God bless you and yours ๐Ÿ•Š๐ŸŒบโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

Hi Gab63 Iโ€™m on oxycodone for about 3-4 years. I was on OxyContin for about 12 years but they reduced my dose and put me on oxycodone. Iโ€™m on 5mg twice a day. To b honest I donโ€™t think it does anything for me. I think itโ€™s because Iโ€™ve been on it for so long that my body has become Amun to it. Iโ€™ve got a lot of health problems and Iโ€™m on a lot of pain and other medications too. Just b careful if u are going to take them as they are very addictive. I am more than sure Iโ€™ve become addicted to them now.

Hi Shelly... 5mg does nothing for serious pain. Thanks almost an insult.. Doctors can be do frustrating. Since just recently (after nearly 6 years) specialists are taking me seriously for first time, and have prescribed a slow release OxyContin at 10mg morning and night. Did nothing so I took two, did nothing so I took 3 in morning (30mg) and 1-2 at night which Dems to now be actually leveling out and easing the sharpest and most torturous part of my pain issues. I told my specialist what I had done and he was a little upset but then agreed that each person has their "sweet spot" with these drugs and he knows my pain levels are truly torture. So he officially prescribed the dosage I tried out and we'll see how we go from here. This was only a few days ago. I'm by far not pain free but at least just a little more comfortable lying bed and gently walking around the house. We know this drug is not a solution but it is a stop gap whilst I await surgery in about a 3 weeks (date not set yet). Surgery to remove something that's not suppose to be there - very close to my left kidney causing some blockage, and near to nerves and arteries. Surgeon is not guaranteeing this is the cause of my pain (sigh) but I'm feeling the removal of this "thing" may probably alleviate at least one part of my chronic acute complex pain issues.

I pray and hope you find consistent pain relief or another solution to your pain. I pray for us all who suffer so badly, mostly feeling alone and hopeless. God bless you and all. And thank you Shelly for sharing your experience with me.. I'm terribly alone in this and it's so good to find others willing to communicate. Peace be with you always ๐Ÿ•Š๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

PS: I don't take immediate release opiates at all. Just the slow release,12 hours apart. I do take paracetamol and in urgent breakthrough pain times I take ibuprofen. I have some natural remedies that I take as well that help with anxiety and cramping etc.
