Hi everyone, my son is 3 and had his first biopsy which came back with abnormalities for pcd, they called us back for a second biopsy to test to see if it's genetic or due to persistent infection. Has anyone heard of infection causing pcd ? Thanks

Hi

If you have Pcd it is from birth as it is a genetic condition. You can have 'faulty cilia' because of an infection - so they may want to check when he is well. Are you in the UK? If so- have a look at the video on our website pcdsupport.org.uk - on the 'what is PCD' page. It should explain why the test is so complex.

Good luck

Fiona
