Looking at my M2 Antibody levels from the last 2 blood panels, it looks like I have PBC. My other levels, GGT and Alk Phos are within normal range. My doctor has prescribed Ursodiol for me to treat the PBC and the dosage seems high. I am to take a 500mg tablet in the morning and a 250mg tablet at dinner. I am wondering what dosage other people are on. Thank you!
Dosage of Ursodiol: Looking at my M... - PBCers Organization
Dosage of Ursodiol
Dosage is based on a person's weight.
For primary biliary cirrhosis:
Adults—Dose is based on body weight and must be determined by your doctor. The dose is usually 13 to 15 milligrams (mg) per kilogram (kg) of body weight per day, divided into two to four doses. Your doctor may adjust your dose as needed.
I felt the same way as you when I was prescribed 300mg tablets 3 times a day, total 900mg per day. Ninjagirlwebb is correct…I did the math for myself and the dosage was right.
the PBC foundation has a very good dosage calculator based on weight. I weigh 160 lbs and take 500 in the am and 500 in the pm.
Greenfern
It is given by weight. So for every so many lbs you are, then it is calculated by that. I currently am taking 1000 mg both at the same time. It can upset your tummy so either before bed or with food.
Best to Follow your Dr’s instructions. Every case is different. I do wish you the best in your health journey.
