Do any of you with PBC have metal screws or plates in your body from surgery? I was reading an article and it mentions that some folks develop autoimmune diseases after having dental implants or surgery with metals in their body. I had a metal plate in my foot and 8 screws in my leg after I had an accident in 2010. I was diagnosed with PBC in 2016. However my liver enzymes started being off in 2013.

I have screws in both ankles (separate surgeries, first in 1979, 2nd in 2006). I was diagnosed with PBC in 2007 with elevated liver enzymes since 2013.
Yes, I have a titanium plate and five screws in my neck at C4-5. I think I was diagnosed with PBC some years before this operation.
No sorry.. i have never heard of that. However, I have met two women who had the transplant and got PBC again. So maybe truly genetic just in our DNA
I hope having dental implants do not worsen or cause disease progression!😳 I just had a dental implant last month! ...Will be watching for further responses from your post. 🤗
