Siblings with PBC

My two sisters have just both been diagnosed with PBC. How common is this. I want to learn all I can. Help please.

They say PBC is genetic but not hereditary. My mother and her sister both have PBC and I also have PBC. I know it is rare but it does happen. Contact the PBC Foundation for more help and support. You are also more succeptable to other autoimmune conditions if you have one already. I also have AIH, underactive thyroid and Vitiligo. Take care. X

I am the third of my generation on my mothers side to have the disease. Two of my cousins who were sisters also had it. I have been told that it can skip a generation as in my case. neither of my two daughters are affected nor anymore of maternal family.

My late sister and I both had/have pbc. At the time we were both diagnosed we were told that it was not hereditary. (around 10 -15 years ago). Now I have been advised to get my daughters and son checked. We dont knw if my mum had it because she died aged 44 of breast cancer.

Hi my late mam had pbc i was dxt 4 yrs ago in august, im the only one in my family has it, iv 5 sisters and 1 brother, none of them carry the gene, my daughter was checked shes ok, but my son dosnt want to get checked, cant force him hes nerley 25.

Just diagnosed with PBC, previously have Lupus, Sjogrens and non related trigeminal neuralgia.
